Spray In Bedliner On Nnbs

Recommended Posts

the truck bed has a bunch of plastic caps filling in holes. you guys with spray in liners - did you have them spray the bedliner over the caps or have the caps removed before spraying? i'm just thinking if they were removed, how would they fit after the liner was sprayed in?

i don't see any reason why i'd ever have to pop those caps out... can they spray right over them?

Smiley,

I just got the Line-X premium sprayed in my new black Silverado. I chose to go with the "over the rail" application, and it wound up looking fantastic. Before they started, the Line-X guy asked me if I was planning on adding any of the GM bed accessories that, apparently, attach to whatever is beneath those plastic caps. I said no, so he said that they would just spray over them. The finished job looks great, has a lifetime guarantee to retain it's good looks and shine (that's the premium part), and the plastic caps in the bed are now a permanent part of the truck. No regrets here.

EDIT: the four cargo attachment rings in the bed were also sprayed, but you can still attach tie-down strap hooks to them. Also, if you want, I can take a couple shots to show you how it looks - I'll just have to wait 'till we see the sun again because the details don't show up in pictures when it's this cloudy/rainy.

Please take a picture of what caps your asking about, I have a sprayed in liner but I am not sure if they painted over these caps or not??

They just sprayed over them on my truck. I am just guessing here, but I think they cover the holes used for the cargo management system.

this is exactly what i'm thinking. i don't ever plan on putting on a cap, tool holders, or any cargo manage stuff. i assumed that is what the holes are for. i didn't know if spraying over the plastic caps would cause a soft spot or place for the liner to crack over time.

yes - i will spray the rings. i did that on my previous truck and will do it again on this truck.

i did have a rhino liner in my last truck. i never had an issue with it but i am pretty sure i'm going to try the linex this time around. i think the linex warranty is good anywhere compared to rhino that is only good at the original install shop (which can go out of business and leave you with no warranty). i just know 10 years ago it was pretty much a tossup between rhino and linex, and appears to be the case today. i have no complaints about my rhino liner but just think i'll try out the linex this time around...

If you don't plan on installing the cargo management system just spray over them. Mine have been like that since the day I picked up my truck (38,000 miles and almost 3 years ago).

They didn't ask, and removed mine, I am glad they did since I can remove them in the future if I need to. and I like the contrast of the black and white....

Caps NOT sprayed over (LineX)

nice to know that they do still fit!

how do you like the colored linex? i've got a red truck and was planning the standard black, over the rail liner. do the colored liners fade over time? i see they offer linex in red.... :hmm:

Did the Line-X Premium over the rail on my Taupe Gray Silverado. I absolutely agree on the quality of this product. The shine is great. Anyway.... I completely forgot about these plugs and they sprayed over mine as well. Had I thought of it I would have removed the two on the bedsides next to the standard hole at the front corners of the bed. Sometimes on previous trucks I would tie through the standard hole and hole inside the bed w/nylon ropes to secure cargo. (Yeah I know I'm a dinosaur-but that's how I grew up using a truck) Anyway as far a looks go there's no problem spraying over them. And there's absolutely no flex after they are sprayed, so I don't think you'd have to worry about pealing cracking If you don't need the hole I'd just leave them in. Besides, in the unlikely event there was a problem, that Line-X warranty would cover you. It's a super product.

oh - another good idea... i could see that coming in handy! maybe i will have them removed first...

Everyone's right, unless you think you're going to use that cargo management system then just have them spray over everything. Here's what it will look like. And if you plan on moving large stuff in the next few months place a blanket in the bed first because NOTHING will slide into your bed for a while.

I got LineX from the dealer and the LineX guys at this shop always take out the caps, then spray, and when dry they put them back on. I like how they didn't spray over them personally.

So far I like the colored liner, especially in the white, gets a lot of compliments too... It was expensive ~750

Not sure if it will fade, had it done in March, truck has sat inside for a month and out for three weeks...

I have a leer tonneau ordered so I doubt I ever see fade. If your going over the rail I like the color match, that is what made me do it. If I had gone under rail it would have been black.
