I saw an older thread on the XM satellite radios. I was just wondering if anyone that had one experienced any problems. I was thinking about getting one and was curious about interference or grey areas of coverage.

 

Any thoughts?

I GOT A XM RADIO IN A 2002  HD  DUR MAX AND WOULD NOT TRADE IT FOR A FARM IN GEORGIA IT IS VERY GOOD AND WILL ONLY LOSE THE SIGNAL IF YOU GO A TUNELL GO WITH THE XM  BUT I LIKE THE SONY FACE PLATE BETTER IT WAS NOT AVAIBLE WHEN I GOT MINE

Sirius radio has better coverage and better programming.  I used to have XM but it would lose singal alot.  bought sirius and not had a problem since.  I still get emails from XM telling me that the spotty coverage has been cleared up and want my business back but i like the sirius programming alot better. and it is 100% commercial free music unlike XM.

I had ZERO problems with coverage with my XM.  I had it in my previous truck for about eight months.  I'm in withdrawals still not having it put back in my new truck yet.

 

Perhaps it's b/c I live in Louisiana and don't have to contend with buildings or mountains...

Mom got a new 2003 Sub the other week....it was XM equiped and since my dad is somewhat of a spender, he opted to sign up for the service and I am d@mn glad he did.  Great programming and tons of different stations.....alll UNCENSORED! :thumb:

I have a 2003 Silverado and am trying to figure out the two best connect points for the IGN and BAT wire hookups are to install an XM.  With so much of the wiring being "data bus" wiring, I'm scared to touch anything.  If anyone has any ideas on this...

The only problem with Sat. Radio is the state of both Sirrus and XM's business.  Sirrus is in serious financial trouble so I would go with XM, but even they are having difficulty.  XM just secured a 450 mil dol. loan.

I put XM in my truck about a month and a half ago. I just got back from a snowmobiling trip as far north in Maine as you can go and never lost signal once. I really enjoy the programming offered especially the comedy. I ran battery connections from the fuse block under the hood (cause I have a ton of accessories in the truck)and tapped into the radio ignition feed for the other lead. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Same here, may dad just bought a 03 Yukon Xl Denail, and the XM coupled with the Denali Bose System (Denali Boses are slightly different from all the other GM bose systems) simply rocks.

I don't carry CDs anymore. With 4,000 songs on one channel played without a repeat, you don't need any more variety.  Plus, in the world we live in, you can get immediate LIVE news with CNN, Fox, etc., and world news with the BBC.

The xm rocks, I only loose signal in the car wash. I suggest getting the direct interface boxes so you don't use the rf antenna box. Sound quality is like playing cd. I never tune into local channels. I have the 903 pioneer unit. I bought my unit and ant from e-bay. Savings payed for extra boxes for direct connection. Mounted display in dash on right side under vent, just above the aux light switch or air bag switch if you have one. Will send pics if interested.
