Removed Side Molding

Recommended Posts

I took my side molding off last night. I used some fishing line to get them off. I heated them very little with a blow dryer because it was actually fairly easy. My issue is that there are some small bubbles in the paint underneath where the side molding used to be. Is there anything I can do about this? Has anyone else seen this? Thanks for your help all. This is on a 2005 GMC Sierra SLE with 83k miles. Also these bubbles are not big but there are quite a few of them. They are about the size of the tip of a pen.

this happend on my dads truck, turnout out they were a bunch of moisture bubbles that eventually turned into small rust bubbles. we had to sand the bottom half of the door and repaint!

does anyone know how to remove the chrome top rocker without removing the entire molding??

i like the molding and i dont want to risk leaving hard lines on the paint or paint bubbles, but i am also going with black everything and i think the chrome sticks out...

any ideas?? i can either paint it or somehow peel it off...

Thanks for the pictures Sean. My problem is my bumper to bumper runs out at the end of May. So Side moldings are not turning enough to be noticable to average person but to myself I see the start of them turning I think. Do not know what to do?

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD crew cab the truck is black and has chrome side moldings that are bubbling. I am wondering if I can sand down the bubbles and smooth out the molding and then plasti dip them black. I think that would look great providing it can be smoothed out.

My other option is just to remove them all together.

Has any gone through this?

I would just remove them altogether.. Not worth the hassle of trying to make them look good again. Or just buy new ones
