Launching A New Website: Gmhowto.com

Hey guys, I've been a member of this site for awhile now and when I was browsing the forum the other day, I had an idea for a website. I was having trouble finding a how-to write up that I had looked at before (it wasn't in the Tech Wiki or a sticky thread). This isn't the first time this has happened to me. With the number of threads created every day, it sometimes becomes difficult finding them. The search button can bring back pages of threads to sort through. I am a member on multiple forums as well so sometimes I forget where the write up is located. I want to create a website that brings together all of these how-to guides in one place. There is clearly a lot of time and effort put into creating them and they are such a great help.

Goals of the site:

-make quality how-to guides more accessible and easier to find

-create a great resource by providing a massive database of mods and maintenance/repair articles at no cost

-unite GM Truck & SUV forums in order to bring the expertise and hard work of their members together in one place

-link the articles back to the original thread for questions so hopefully it will encourage new members to join the community

-make the "mod bug" even more contagious

I know the site is very basic right now and lacks content. I just started it and don't know much about building a website but hopefully it will get better.

Before I put the work of others on my site, I want to make sure I have their permission first. Just let me know if I can host your how-to by sending me a PM or replying to this thread.

Thanks, Chris

I know what you re talking about with the search results. I go through the same thing all the time.

The new site looks good. Looks like it could be a great resource. The key will be getting it, and keeping it, organized so that it doesnt become a jumbled mess like the forums can be.

Thats exactly why I wanted to create the site. The forums do become a mess with all the threads started. So I guess the appeal of the site is organization and easy navigation.

If you want, you can copy my mods:

***i have not finished some of the writeups even though I have completed the listed projects (except the headlights)*** :(

You have some really great write ups. It's just going to take some time to get everything on the site. It's the end of the semester at school and I'm swamped with work.

Copying M. Cueva (Mike) s information is a must

Thank you Mike
