JoeSquid Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 1995 6.5TD 2500, I got this thing for $1600 and it seems to run great. I already fixed the climate control, replaced the blower motor and resister. $40 and the a/c blows cold. Next is to fix the oil cooler leaks, then tackle replacing the interior, and loose steering.
700 sportsman Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Looks like a good project/beater truck. Needs a leveling kit for sure unless you plan on towing/hauling alot.
JoeSquid Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 Yes, that will come later...need to get the essentials done first, then the cosmetic stuff. not bad for the price... maybe repaint the hood
JoeSquid Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 My wife will be towing a horse trailer with it. I am looking at putting in a gooseneck flip flop ball in the bed. Looks like a good project/beater truck. Needs a leveling kit for sure unless you plan on towing/hauling alot.
Blue_Z71 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 6L80 or the 5-speed? I had a '95 350 NV-4500 myself.

JoeSquid Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 It's a 5-speed 6L80 or the 5-speed? I had a '95 350 NV-4500 myself.
JoeSquid Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 I'm sure it will do for hauling firewood, making a few trips to Lowes and pulling a horse trailer every once in a while. 6.5= underpowered money pit
05GMCZ71 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 It will be just fine. many owners out there have gotten surprisingly long life out of their old gen Diesels with very little maintenance required.
uh6tdrvr Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 6.5 got a bad rep but stock it will go for a long time. Easily worth what you paid for it. Air in and air out really helps them out.
Blue Bear Farms Ent. Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 6.5's are awesome! dont say bad things a bout them they are always something to work on so its a fun truck to own. straight pipe that thing and itll sound nice.
