Why No Redzone On Oil Pressure Guage?

so driving home this morning at 3am half dead, i realised that the voltage guage and temp guage and rpm guage have redzones but the oil pressure guage dosen't, why? i can't imagine 80 psi is real healthy if the pressure ever got that high...any ideas?

You know, I was thinking about that the other day also. I don't have a red area for voltage, water temp, oil pressure, or even a redline on my tach. I wonder what Chevrolet's thinking is on this, as every other vehicle I've owned had a red area indicating "bad". Hmmm

ive wondered the same thing, but the needle goes all the way up and down through out normal driving so i figure its ok

I've been told that now a days the oil pressure gauge serves no real purpose other than to give a false sense of satisfaction to the driver. Because the oil pressures differ greatly on each and every engine and at what speeds and RPMs it is being driven at, some may seem on the lower side, and some on the higher side. 30 can be normal for one engine and 80 can be normal for another. It's when the "Check Oil" message or light comes on in your DIC that you know you have problems and the oil pressure gauge could still be reading any of those numbers or right in the middle. Fords are set up the same way. Not sure about Dodge.
