Ran The 1/4 In My 6.2

Finally got my truck to the track tonight, had decent results. My best pass was a 15.05 @ 93.5 MPH. I ran the truck in 2WD and my 60' time was 2.357. Was slightly disappointed I didn't break into the 14s. Not bad for a loaded LTZ crewcab though.

Is that bone stock? Did you have traction issues? Is that with the 3.42 or 3.73 rear end?

Still not bad for a big truck though!

thats pretty good. i would kind think that the 6.2 would be faster though... my 2001 silverado 5.3 runs 1/4 in 15.8

Yeah it is bone stock down to the paper filter. I have the 3.42 rear axle. The 6.2 is really held back by the ridiculous factory tune, I'm sure I could gain at least 5 tenths with a real tune.

im pretty sure there are ways that you can remove tunes....

If you're looking to tune definately check out Black Bear Performance. They do great work and have a device called and Autocal which allows you to switch between up to 5 tunes for dealer work, towing, etc.

Theres a tuner in my area that does alot of GM stuff and people are happy with the work. I would prefer an in-person tune for TCM calibration.

The DA was about 1300ft. I think track prep was the issue, we had alot of rain here lately and the track was really green. A 2.357 60' time is pretty lousy.

I agree 2.3 sixty foot sux but big v-8 in pickup truck with stock tires and no load in the bed you wont be able to get much better.. I am curious what you woulda go in 4wd. Probably 1.8.. theres your 5 tenths right there. Im sure the time that woulda been made up at the holeshot would more than make up for any power losses on the big end of the track in 4wd.

What about 4wd launch then click down into 2wd? I have never tried doin something like that WOT.

im thinkin 4wd launch + tune = one full second off the ET @ around the same MPH as u got in 2wd.

i assume its the same on the GMT900's, but when you floor it off the line in 4, your can safley switch back to 2 at any speed. thats how my buddy with his 05 dmax does it and i have done it in all of my trucks
