Small Ball Joint Issue.

So took my truck in for it's yearly inspection, didn't think it would need anything only put 30 k kms on it since i bought it. I have been easy on her, and thought i was on top of the issues.

 

So I needed an upper right front ball joint, left rear spring pack was broken, rear breaks. Well figured all of that wasn't a big deal, do it. Well can't buy a ball joint, need to buy a whole control arm. 500$ Dealer part...ouch spring pack wasn't cheap either. So my inspection cost me 878$ Oh i did get an oil change and tire rotation for free...

 

So didn't really make this thread to complain, just a warning to other who don't see it coming. So what other parts does GM sell as a whole?? Just a heads up for further repairs.

MOOG has the upper control arm for your truck on Amazon.com for $96.33 I've really begun to find amazon a good place for parts recently. They have almost every acdelco part under the sun. Their search sucks, so get the part number somewhere and plug it in. I went to Federal-Mogul website to get the MOOG part number (K80670) then plugged it into the amazon search field.

How it the world did you break a spring in only 30K KM? And breaks, too! You've been beating on that truck!

No, the truck is 07, it's got a acdelco upper control arm. Still wasn't cheap here in Canada, But life time warranty. I think the spring pack was broken when i bought it, but I'm not overly sure. Towed, maybe 4 times and haven't really got it overly dirty. But if the truck broke that easy..it's a poor indication where GM is going. I'm a GM guy through and through, but this truck is not ever comparable to my fathers 2000.

I have seen so many broken leaf packs at work, we beef em up when we fix them. 1500's only.
