Driverside Window Problem

Recommended Posts

Posted

I came out to the parking lot and my drivers side window was halfway down and crooked. I got it back up but you can clearly hear the mechanism moving through its full range of motion when I press the button but it seems like it has detached from the glass. Any idea how to fix this and how do I get the door panel off.

Thanks in advance.

Somebody try to break in? plowking

No. I removed some window tint several months ago and I believe it got hot enough where some of the adhesive that was left on where I couldn't get to it was adhering the window to the trim. I tried to roll it down but it would go and I didn't think anything of it, thought I would just wait for it to cool down a bit and try cleaning it again. When I came back out from picking my son up at daycare it was halfway down.

I am guessing whatever hold the window and the mechanism together cut loose when I tried rolling it down. I guess this would be the regulator cable mentioned above. I guess the good news is that the motors in those windows is pretty strong.

I am not looking forward to taking the door apart.

Cool. I got it figured out and it wasn't as hard as I thought. Basically the glass had just pulled out of the rubber lined clamps that hold it. Thankfully it wasn't the regulator.

The door pannel came off without much effort but of course I broke a small piece of the door handle hosing off that holds the release cable. So at some point I am sure my door will not open and I will have to replace that.
