Riding With Your Best Friend Fido

What are you using to make a nice platform for your dog to ride with you in your crew or extended cab Silverado or Sierra? I have tried the hammock type that fastens to the head rests and back seat bottom but they don't fit well. I am going to make something but trying to figure out the design. The height of the seat bottom is getting too high for for him to consistently jump up and will only get worse with time. I need something that will let the passenger side fold up so he can get in.

Any pictures you might have would be great.

My buddy don't need no stinkin' platform! :dunno: He's tall enough to sit and ride in back with the seats up. On longer trips he lays on the pad that I put down.

When the engine starts up, he comes a running.

My dog rides on the seat. I'll raise the pass side to let her in then fold it down. She loves my truck. Btw, my interior is the ebony lint catcher and she has white hair. Seats furrier than the dog.

I lift up the rear seat (60% side) and he sits on the floor. I have a soft thin dog bed he can lay down on. He is a 105lb black lab. He is eye level with the window when sitting on the rear floor.

My dog is a 100lb mastiff/rotti and we don't need no stinkin' platform either. Love the crew cab for the flip up seats and the weather tech mats to keep the floors looking good!

My pooch is definitely a truck dog. He always jumps in and sits right behind the steering wheel. I have to shove him over and he will sit right beside me on the bench seat in the 89. I don't its possible to be happier than that dog is when he's with me in the truck.

I have a 20 lb min-pin. He rides on my Girlfriend's lap on the passenger side or on the back seat. Hair is not an issue with leather seats. He can use the door armrest in the back to see outside just fine, I just have to remember to lock out the window controls lol

We have a Corgador and we take it when we drive in my wife's car. She is wondering why I don't let the dog in my new truck that is spotless. I haven't told her but I really don't want the dog in the truck, but I know someday, I will have to. The dog is not real big and I don't think she could see out the back windows and I don't know how the dog could jump up into the truck in the first place since it is higher than our car. I will still keep up on this post and see what comes of it. I may have the dog in my truck sooner than I think. :uhoh:

We have twloFlatcoat retrivers. They have 2 cages in the rear of the SUV. This is the ONLY safe way to transort dogs in a car.

A 40 lbs dog will at a collision or emergency stop at 35 mph have a weight at 1500 lbs. If the dog hit you, or "fly" out of the windshield it will be dead and possibly you if he/ she hit you.

Is this a proper way to transport your best friend ?

This is based on test done here in Europe.
