so your saying the 2006 sierra comes with more options in the snowplow package than the 2011...I doubt that.

You guys are funny.

All that big talk like he knows what he's talking about and then posts something for a truck that's 6 years old and not relevant to anything in this thread.

I laughed so hard I think I peed my pants a little.

FYI............As far as more options in the 06 VYU plow prep.............

YES ! the 06 had standard heated mirrors and rear window defog with the VYU option.

The 11 has them as either a extra cost model package or seperate option and not

included with the VYU plow prep.

I don't think VYU on a work truck got heated mirrors...

That could be true but not sure !

I should of noted gmt-800 01-07 LT 1 & 2 pkg. Chevy trucks with VYU got the heated mirror/rear window with the VYU option..

Not sure with the WTs.

Different body wiring harnesses, front bumper and second generator with an engine wiring harness change??? I wouldn't even want to guess but I'm sure its a lot less when ordered on the truck before taking delivery.

I need some help please.

I have a 2011 2500HD LT and am looking for P/N's the overhead console w/the aux lamp switch to add an overhead light that's installed for the snowplow package option.

Will I also need to add the relay that's mentioned?

I can't find it anywhere in the GM parts listings.

Thanks for all your great info here.

Thanks for your help.

Are you adding this to a non-plow prep truck? Keep this in mind...non-plow preps have a 125 amp alternator and lower rated front torsion bars so front weight rating is not the 5200-5600lbs it would be. We just had a truck in for charging system issues and the guy had a plow on the truck, but no plow prep. The alternator was replaced under warranty due to it not performing correctly. when plowing. It was the 125 amp one.

Thanks for the info. I've also heard that dual alternators can be installed? If so is it very involved?

That's correct about the non-plow prep.

But I'm only going to pull a max of 5-10W off the switch
