i just bought a 2011 2500 whit a duramax. i dont have the snow package. will i be able to instal a plow instalation kit (from fisher) whitout major modification?

Just a warning that GM has been known to deny any and all

warranty service on any GM truck with a snowplow that doesn't

have the factory VYU plow prep package.

Pre. 2011 GM gmt-900 fullsize diesels (except reg. cabs) did not offer the VYU plow prep. option. Not sure about the 2011s with the new frame.

Best to talk to your dealer................

Also note that some/most snowplow dealers will NOT install certain

snowplow set ups on certain trucks because they overload the front

axle aka the FAWR rating because of liability concerns.............

Check the Fisher plow site and type in your truck model, options etc.

into their snowplow selector gizmo. That will tell you which plows

that will work with your truck....................

Different body wiring harnesses, front bumper and second generator with an engine wiring harness change??? I wouldn't even want to guess but I'm sure its a lot less when ordered on the truck before taking delivery.

Tanks for the advice. i dont mind about the roof light,skid plate and alternator(small drive way,personal use). I am worried about the wirring harness for the light(foward lamp wirring harness in the plow prep package). And by the way what is instrument panel jumper wiring harness for electric brake controler(i already have the factory indash one).

Different body wiring harnesses, front bumper and second generator with an engine wiring harness change??? I wouldn't even want to guess but I'm sure its a lot less when ordered on the truck before taking delivery.

Don't forget the front GAWR is less without VYU. VYU with a Duramax gets you a 6000lbs front GAWR versus 5200lbs (might be 4800 but I dont quite recall) without it. The torsion bars would have to be swapped also to accomplish the higher rating.

I don't need an internet search engine when I have the actual information from GM therefore (looks like I'm going to have to lay this out so even a 2nd grader can understand it) I asked you to prove what you're talking about instead of claiming you know more than the sales guide.
