Zone 3.5 Combo Clunk In Rear

I did the zone 3.5 combo. Its the 2 inch level plus 1.5 inch body lift. I keep hearing this clunk in the rear and was wondering if maybe the shocks were bottoming out? Everything is tight, i checked. I even tried lifting the bed all over to see if i could reproduce it. So thats my latest thought is maybe i need longer shocks? Thanks for any input.

There is no way that your shocks are bottoming out. You didn't modify anything on the rear of the suspension when you put that combo on. The levelin kit went on the front, and the body lift only raises the body off of the frame of the truck all around. It does nothing to the rear blocks/leafs/shocks.

You know, i thought about that when i woke up today. Apparently I shouldnt be considering truck issues when overtired late at night at work.

However, my issue remains. I must find this clunking, it is post install. But like you said all i did was lift the body off the frame, so what could it possibly be?

I'm not real sure, hopefully someone will help. Are you sure it's not something simple like the receiver hitch jolting when hitting a pothole (mine does sometimes), or something simple like that? If I remember right, when I did mine, dont you take the spare tire down? Maybe it isn't sucked back up under the truck real well. When does it make the noise? Going down the road in general, going over potholes? And you are positive that all of the mounting bolts holding the bed down are tight? Just a few places to start. Hopefully someone will have some more help for you.

What kind of clunk? When does it happen? Going over speed bumps, hitting bumps in the road, accelerating, stopping.

It could be a rattle like the receiver hitch or bumper brakets. Could be the slip yoke

If this noise was never present before the body lift then you have an issue with the bed body lift install, somewhere. Diagnosis on this isn't that hard, you just have to find it. Start looking. :dunno:

I checked the bolts, didnt re torque them though. I will try that, also going to try removing the hitch before i leave for work. Its over any hard bump. I checked the spare, its in place well. I did notice last night my tailgate is loose when closed. You can move it back and forth a little and im wondering if that is all it is. In that case, not much i can do right?

And yea, i didnt notice this till after the body lift.
