Hello, I just replaced tires on my "07 Silverado Z71 with the OEM wheels. Went with BFG 275 65 18 from 265 65 18. I tried the relearn and couldnt get past the passenger front tire. Now I can't get the drivers front to honk and it says service TPMS on my DIC. When I start the relearn I get the two short honks and now the drivers side turn signal light stay lit. WTF??? I haven't read anything about that light. According to the manual and what I've read in here it shouldn't be that hard to do this. I feel like I should be able to do this myself. Am I missing something or is there some other trick to it? What's up with the turn signal light?? Thanks for your help.

Each turn signal bulb will come on showing you which corner of the vehicle's tpm sensor needs to be learned next. That has been a normal function of the system sense it's inception.

Were the tpm sensors that were in the wheels of which had the new tires installed, damaged? That is typically what happens when the tire installer gets in a hurry or doesn't know the proper technique of tire mounting that it takes to NOT damage the sensor.

I took it back to them and they fixed it no problem, why couldn't I do it? It doesn't seem to be hard?? Oh well at least it's right now are these things just a pain for some because I've read others that had no problem whatsoever....................Thanks for the reply!

'07's had updated receiver modules and updated programming for body modules for this issue, available, and were by far the toughest to do at home until the updates were performed. Then, they worked like a charm.

I had the same problem just from doing a tire rotation, did the first wheel fine and couldnt get past the second. Tried like 15 times before i took it to the dealer and they did it with their handheld.

Mine is an 07, Im guessing I never had the update. Is there any bit of info I can take to my dealer regarding this?

My bad, They (GM) has removed the information for replacing the rcdlr and updating it programming, when I went back into the system to look, just now.

So, as I have posted in this forum before...........

Per PIT4220B,

"For customers who are unable to perform the learn procedure at home, advise them of the following information:

While performing the pressure release learn method, some successful TPM relearns have been accomplished by adding or releasing air for 5-8 seconds and then waiting for the horn to chirp. You may have to wait up to 30 seconds for the horn to sound. By only adding or releasing air for 5-8 seconds reduces the resonant vibration frequency in the valve stem and increases the possibility of the sensor sending the correct ID learn message. If this does not work then replace all the TPM sensors with current SPO stock (same part number). A software fix within the TPM sensor was implemented to correct this concern."

BTW, that method works with ANY GM tpm system.
