So what did I do wrong?

Just thought I would share an experience I had Wednesday night with you guys.  Kind of wanted to get your opinion on if I really did something wrong.

Being a Wednesday night, that meant it was time for the middle of the week trip to the bar.  So the usual crowd that I go out with went along, including my best friend, his girlfriend, his girlfriends brother, and myself.  Well for some reason my buddies girlfriend decided to get one of her co-workers to come out with us.  I thought it was a good idea because the last time this particular girl came out with us me and her kind of hit it off and she said that she really wanted to go out and do something with me.  This was a couple of weeks ago, and we hadn't really been able to work out a time that the both of us could go out, so nothing much came from it.

Anyways, we all go out to the bar and start putting back a good bit of beer.  I talked to this other girl quite a bit, but kept noticing how my buddies girlfriend kept interupting us and wanted the girl to talk to her brother.    :jester:  So the night goes on, and right before this girl gets ready to leave she turns to me and says. "Call me at work Friday morning so we can go out to lunch."  Seeing as how this girl is very good looking and I am not an idiot, I agreed.  I was pretty happy with myself.

As soon as the girl had walked out the door, my buddies girlfriend proceeds to rip my head off for the next 15 minutes because she invited her co-worker along so she could go out with her brother.  I had just screwed everything up.  Now honestly, is it my fault that the girl wants to go out to lunch with me instead of the brother?

btw, I am leaving right now to go pick her up for lunch.   :seeya:

Yes it is your fault. How dare you attract goregous women to you!! :jester:

Your not at fault for anything. The girl has taken a liking to you based upon her own decisions. Obviously she thinks more of you than the brother.

I'd say go for it :thumb:

First let me say... YOU DA MAN!!  :jester:  :(

Now let me say this......

You have to understand the thought proccess here.

Her intentions were to help fix up her her brother with someone so she would not have to feel guilty about having someone when he can't find anyone for himself.  She had a plan, and like the majority of women when they have a plan they think it better d@mn well work and if it doesn't there has to be someone else to blame (usually a man); because her plan is perfect and fool-proof because she came up with it.  She is a woman so therefore she is the perfect match-maker for anyone she is related to, friends with, or aquaintances with.  They have no idea what they really want or need, because she knows this.  She knows this because she is a women, the perfect match-maker.

Now that you understand this reasoning, you must clearly understand that you were entirely wrong, and you are a pig.

However take comfort in knowing that because you are a man you will always be wrong and if she had gone out with the brother and it was a disaster, it would be your fault for not going out with her to keep her from going out with the brother.

You are a man and in the eyes of your friends girlfriends/wives everything will always be your fault no matter what.  So have a nice lunch, and good luck.   :seeya:

The only thing you can really do after being yelled at by her friend is to shrug your shoulders and finish your beer  :jester:  in silence with a big grin on your face :(    I salute you!! :seeya:   By the way, what did the other guy think about that?

Congrats!! :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:

Guess who's not getting freebie haircuts anymore! :seeya:

Well, If it were me, I wouldn't give a crap what the friend's G\F thought. :(

If she's over 21 she should know by now, when Beer is involved, all bets are off. :jester:  :flag:

She is just PO'd because her little match making plan didn't work out. Don't even waste your time trying to figure it out either. Just go for it when you can!  :thumb:

    • Ok that confirms the extra quart theme they are still going with which must mean they have noted some initial use more so then some engines and probably the bigger factor in all of this probably isn't the engine so much as its the insane distance or OLM that lulls a lot of the driving public into driving their new vehicle off the lot and not even doing one short interval oil change because the manufacturer doesn't say different and if the dealer follows that logic as well. Selling the rarely needing to be serviced concept seems to go over well with the public that wants to get away with as little as possible for dollars spent on the vehicles maintenance and I bet there are 3.0 engines just like other vehicles out there that never have their oil checked by the owner which goes back to why they probably felt the need to add that extra quart to avoid a costly theme.    Speaking of cutting filters open, it was probably over two years ago now that a youtuber who buys vehicles to do longer term reviews and pulls a fifth wheel through the mountains of Colorado on summer trips and that becomes part of the testing. Anyway he had a GM HD with the 6.6 gas and a Ford 250 with the 7.3 gas at the same time and of no surprise the Ford had more power etc but somewhere along the way in the few thousand miles he put on the truck, he changed the oil and was seeing glitter and cut open the filter and yeah, things were not looking spectacular. The truck about that time or soon after seemed down on power compared to what it had been and then threw some engine code, I expect the cam/lifters were failing and so he brought the truck back to the dealer and made some deal to get out of it as he knew it would sit for months waiting on a new engine as they were so backlogged at the time. He kept the GM for some time after that using it exclusively until he sold it after buying his next vehicle to do a review on. Definitely the filter can tell a story when things are starting to go sideways, but it would be a sickening feeling to cut it open and be faced with an ugly mess like that and be running a magnet through the pleats and the oil on the dirty side of the filter and see all the fines sticking to the magnet.    The dealer may have some ideas based on experience as to where that coolant smell is coming from, I would imagine if they can't find it but its smelling they would put dye in it to they could give it a run cycle and use the black light to see where it pops up, if its a hose connection, water pump, rad or even a head gasket etc.
    • Good looking truck, suspensionmaxx looks like a solid option
    • Thanks for the info, im considering a leveling kit or 4" lift kit.
    • charm.li (website) has the vehicle-specific diagnostic procedure for that code, you can use to find what the cause of it is.
    • It’s at the point of amusement. I’m retired I have time. It’s fun seeing people try to convince me I’m using oil. I’m buying oil at the prescribed time. It gets drained and new goes in. Do I add in between, no. My oil doesn’t even get dirty in 5k miles. I don’t even see any drop on the stick. I check in the same place. All is well.
