Used Truck Purchase

I'm looking to purchase about an '05 - '07 GMC or Chevy 1500 crew cab. What kind of lifetime mileage could I expect? Will they run to 300k miles with proper maintenance? I see a lot of tranny rebuilds around 200k +/- but nothing on the engine. What has your experience been? Thanks for the input.

i cant be of much help with that particular year model but my dad had a million mile 80 with just one tranny rebuild, i got a 2000 gmc sierra with 281k with the only problem i had being a tranny rebuild at 278k, and now my dad has a 2004 sierra with 225k and no problems yet. they are very dependable vehicles in our exp so personally i dont think you'd be disapointed by the 05-07 models. hope that helped any

Those trucks were a great value new and are still as a used product. Follow the rules when shopping, look for a clean unit that has been maintained and you will be fine.

My 07 Classic CC has 75k and is running great.

I think the Castech heads fail around 100k. My son has an 05 crew cab we got with about 160k and it has 190k now and it's doing great. Hope the tranny lasts another 100k. My daughter though, got a Tahoe with about 100k and it had castech heads and I had to replace them at about 112k.
