Hypothetical Trans Conversion

I have an 07 sierra with the 4speed nbs? if the trans went out and i got a 6spd to replace it with what would be involved in the conversion? alot of computer tweaking and? main reason I hate how this trans feels. Would i do it without a reason no but if the opportunity arose why not?

The swap has been done, go look at performancetrucks.net, they have a lot of gmt-800 short bed pickups with 6 speeds over there.
