2 Tie Rod Questions

My passenger inner tie rod is shot. So i assume the other one is close to the same condition. I plan on changing both but my questions are.

 

Should I change my outer tie rod ends as well?

 

Should i go with OEM. Total price for OEM would be over $800 for both sides inner and outer. Seems like way to much to me.

I'd buy Moog & be done with it. Inners and outers might be $200 ...

 

Usually the outers are the ones that fail first ... so if it has a few miles on her I'd just change it all. That way only pay for one alignment, instead of 2 when the outers fail 2 weeks after you replace the inners.

Ya insane isn't it. $228 each for inner and $208 each for outer. Must be a Canada thing?

 

Ya I could see the outer going too since I'm at 200,000km (125k miles). I'll prob do em all so I just have the one alignment like you said.

 

Where do I find moog? Generally if I buy after market I go through napa but they are pretty pricey too. 102 inner and 85 outer each.

Not sure which 1500 you have, but Rockauto.com has Moog for about $40 ... so maybe a few dollars more Canadian.

Last night I actually placed an order with Jegs. I haven't order autoparts online before but figured Jegs would be a reliable company. They were a bit more expensive but they offered a price match. So I got both sets of Moog tie rods for 126 before shipping and 180 by the time it gets to my door in Canada. I guess assuming they approve the price match. Way better price.

800!?!?! thats insane!! i got my moogs for 90 each

800 was from my local GM dealership here in Calgary Alberta Canada. And the price would have been more like 900 after tax. Obviously they don't want people to buy there parts
