Texan vs. Taliban (G)

Middle East

A large group of Taliban soldiers are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a sand dune....

"One Texas soldier is better than ten Taliban"

The Taliban commander quickly sends 10 of his best soldiers over the dune, whereupon a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes then silence.

The voice then calls out..... "One Texan is better than one hundred Taliban"

Furious, the Taliban commander sends his next best 100 troops over the dune and instantly a huge gunfight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again silence.

The Texan's voice calls out again.... "One Texan is better than one thousand Taliban"

The enraged Taliban commander musters one thousand fighters and sends them across the dune. Cannons, rockets and machine gun fire ring out as a huge battle is fought. Then silence.

Eventually one wounded Taliban fighter crawls back over the dune and with his dying words tells his commander.....

"Don't send any more men....it's a trap....there's two of them"

That same 'story' was making the rounds a year ago except it was with Uncle Sam's finest; the United States Marine Corps.

Either way, to paraphrase Adm Yamamoto after Pearl Harbor, they "... have awakend a sleeping Giant...".

Like a big dog, we in the US are extremely tolerant of a lot of little annoyances, but you better be prepared for the a$$ whoopin you WILL receive if you push us too far.  (ya all notice how you don't hear much from Quadafy duck after April 15, 1986    and that he was the FIRST middle-eastern 'leaderl to deny involvement with the Sept 11 attacks.  He found out first hand what happens when you keep poking that dog with the pointy stick and then the big dog moves!)

Time to kick a$$ and take names! (even if you can't pronounce them)  :P

Bummed, I am former  Army.  C Co. 426 Sig. BN  Ft. Bragg NC.  Home of the legs. Only non airborne unit at Bragg. I could not have been a lether neck, too much of a puzz I guess. My  uncle was a Mud Marine that served two years in VietNam. Dad was AirCommando in Nam. Grandpa kicked some tail in the Pacific in the Navy, Midway vet. My great uncle came form Germany to fight the Kaiser in WWI. Then the rest of my family came over to this great country. I am the first generation in my family to be DAV  and the first  not to see combat.  I  am puzz. I was in during the first camel killing adventure but missed out due to being talked out of infantry to go into communications, which I spent a year in training. Still a very needed job to have I guess or at least they told me so. I tried but we kicked butt to quick. At least I earned my right to be an American. It is granted at birth but my opinion is until you serve in the military it is not earned.  Anyway thanks for a life of service.   I say let's let our military do what is needed and support them 100%.  Any war protester is a traitor and should be shot on site. And to the 60's hippies  who got pardoned up yours too. :puke:  :puke:  :puke:  :puke:  :puke:

Yep, all the respect in the world for those serving in the military and my fellow public safety brothers.  Cleveland PD had a guy hit putting flares down at an accident on the interstate the other morning, and 1 of our accident investigators got hit while out on an accident yesterday.  Fortunately the Cleveland guy lived and our guy only had a ripped shirt...his foot did get run over by a landcaping trailer, but I guess he was not injured.  Very lucky.  These people need to pay attention and realize the hard work that those who serve do- whether it be in our own backyards or elsewhere.

"Thanks' are all a lot of Vets ever asked for.

We have a veterns home not far from where I live.  I used to take my Cub Scout pack (was cub master for 5 years) there a couple times a year.  The boys would make little things as gifts for the vets at Christmas and we would take a tree donated by my Boy Scout troop (I'm the Charter Rep for the troop) to the VA Home and all of the cubs would decorate it with hand made ornaments.

There is one gentleman who on clear days sits in his wheel chair under the Veterns Home's sign down by a major road in and out of the county.  He waves to everyone going by.  Everytime I go by, I hit my Horn and give him a Thumbs up.   :thumb:   He smiles real big and gives the Thumbs up back.  It really seems to make his day.

I extend MY thanks to ALL Vets who came before me, and to all those I served with and all that will come after me.

To any and all Marines out there, A belated Happy birthday.

OOH RAH!

We've got a guy outside 1 of the nursing facilities near work that sits out and waves from his wheelchair all the time.  I guess he's been doing it for years.  I call him Waving John, but I think his real name is Norm or something semi-unusual.  He was interviewed and says that he sits there just trying to bring a moment of happiness to someone else's day.
