Security Chime Annoying

I have a 2000 Sierra 1500 SLT and when I put the key all the way back so only the radio is on the security chime and dash light also come on and stay on the same as what it would do if the key was in ignition and the door was open. i am wondering if anybody has ran into this problem and how to fix it because now the only way to listen to the radio without the engine running is to turn the key to run, and that kills the batterys cause the headlights and dash lights come on... Any thoughts??

Just flip the latch closed while door is open and chime will be off as if the door was closed. Beware that you must release latch (pull handle) inside or out before closing door.

Yea I know what you mean, but it does it when the door is closed and the key is back all the way, the security still chimes and makes listening to the radio annoying.

was the ignition changed out? that should not happen unless the wiring is screwed up.

It shouldn't have been, but I guess it's hard to know considering i bought the truck at 200,000km. Guess I'll just have to turn the music up... I must say the 5.3 is an awesome motor though, lots of power, and I'm getting about 21Mpg on a 2000 with 275,000km's, tough to complain about that.
