Anyone Replaced The Drive Shaft With The New One?

Anyone replaced the steering shaft to fix the clunk? If so, how much did it run you? Where did you get it replaced at?

I had mine fixed about a week ago. It is quiet now.

I got my clunking fixed at the dealer. They replaced the yoke with part #20877209 under warranty. Truck is less than 2 yrs old and only 12,134 miles. They said this is a revised design part from GM.

Driveline clunk that comes from the slack in the slip yoke :)

You can just pack the slip yoke with grease too :D

All years from 99 up have been effected by this. Never understood why GM couldn't fix this one :)

I don't have a warranty, but wouldn't it be smarter replacing the whole steering shaft? And anyone know how much it would cost at a dealer?

The drive shaft is not the problem, it is the yoke. GM replaced the yoke on my 06 and it was quiet for almost a year. The noise and clunk is already coming back even with the "new" updated part.

So would you suggest not to even mess with it?

Is this the clunk that occurs when I get back on the gas from a slower coast, sometimes?

That's exactly it!

As for the fix, I had the driveshaft replaced under warranty, little to no improvement...
