After market rear diff. locker ?

Hi there,

So I went for a top mark used Sierra 2007 SLE. It's 2x4, with the 3.2x rear ratio.

My old Sierra WT 2003 had the 3.4x.

I use it mainly to load up camping gear in the bed and carry a small jonboat ontop of a fiberglass cap.

What's the difference in terms of what I'll be able to do between a 3.4x and 3.2x ratio ?

Also, the 2007 does not have the G80 locker. Are there any aftermarket rear lockers ? How costly is it of a installation if there are ?

Finally, I don't know the policy about build sheet request, but if they are still allowed, have a go at this VIN if you fee like it 1GTEC19C27Z614263 :)

Thanks!

The G80 is not a "true" locker.........it uses clutches and is a limited slip rear end.

A Detroit Locker is like the name implies and uses gears to lock up.....they are not as street friendly and make click and banging noises.

Take a look at a TruTrac.....its one of the best limited slip units out there.....about as close to a real locker as you can get and is more street friendly than a locker.

Your going to catch _ _ _ _ for that one! The G80 is not a limited slip, it is a locker, the clutches are to engage those gears. Once engaged the both rear wheels are connected and turning with equal torque not which everyone has more/less traction.

Can't commenton on install costs. I put in a YUKON GEAR Duri-Grip posi. unit. It's has a clutch pack, and IS a rebuildable component. It does what its supposed to, quiet operation, unlike a Detroit locker. ( we put a D L in a friends 454 Suburban, it works good, just "clicks" when "in use" )

Did mine in he driveway:

It was raining during install day (had to wait for part), so no pics. A matter of swapping ring gear, and reassmbley. Which for me ment, axle seals, backing plates, e-brake cables and shoes.
