New guy from Texas

Hello y'all, new guy signing on from Texas. Been GM owner all my life, just now getting serious..... Just bought used 2008 GM Sierra K1500 crew cab w/5.3L ("trade up" from 1998 GMC Sierra C1500 with 250,000 miles on it that is still going strong but is about to become my youngest kid's transportation), Previously had 1994 S-10 that got taken out in a wreck, but had 190,000 miles on it and was still going strong.

The 2008 is a well maintained truck with 70,000 miles from previous owner, however, he did all the service himself, so no service records. Forgot to ask him about oil brand used, so looking for recommendations. Just got here so figure this topic is on here somewhere, just looking for a link to the thread. Glad to be here and thanks for the help. Looking forward to coming around often to see what's up.

Can't go wrong with Mobil 1 synthetic

Welcome.

Use any quality 5w-30 (manufacturer recommended) or 10w-30. Synthetic or dino oil. Use a quality filter. Can't go wrong with AC, but there are several other brands that are great.

Can you still contact the PO to ask about type of oil? You might want to see about about changing your other fluids as well since the PO gave you no service records
