Instrument cluster dims under hard acceleration

Definitely. I do have a question, its off topic but is there a way to extend the fan blade out. Like maybe a spacer or something? I have a CAI but have to run the factory tube because they dont tell you that when you put a TB spacer on it pushes the CAI tube into the fan blade. Id like to be able to use what I paid for you know. Thanks in advance.

Probably, But I have not dealt with that issue. I would check with your local parts/speed shop to see what they have available for those intake upgrade fan issues.

Are you sure you have the right kit? I was thinking it sounds like one for an electric fan vehicle where the clutch fan wouldn't be in the way.

I did check a couple places and they said they dont carry anything like that. I thought I might have got one for electric fans too. But they said they are all the same. That alot people order them not knowing that you cant put both on if you have the clutch fan. So I dont know what to do. I like the throttle response I get from the TB Spacer, but am curious to know if I will feel a difference with the Complete intake setup.

Hi I had the same problem with my 04 silverado. The dealer put a small jumper wire on my alternator. It was in a service bulletin. It corrected the problem.

I changed both belts. Now it no longer squeals when I hit. Thanks alot. Im not sure if it corrected the dimming issue but will be able to tell tonight.

You're Welcome. Glad my long distance tech support was helpful. ;-)

Loose the TB spacer and get a tune. A tune will do more for throttle response and overall performance than a TB spacer, which the general consensus is, is a waste of money

Rog. Again, I constantly hear of the blackbear tune. But I never hear why that one is "far superior" than any other tunes on the market. Does it really live up to the HYPE?

@ tes, it definitely was helpful.

Did the lights dimming go away? You ever get those door speaker LEDs hooked up? Hope you had a good Christmas.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I was on leave in Oklahoma City.

Im still having the dimming issue. I've been looking for the service bulletin, but cant seem to find it.

I did get the LED's hooked up in the door speakers. I just wired them to a switch I added.

Well at least you are making progress. Glad you got some time off.

I found this info: JANUARY 01 2004

  • NHTSA Reference #10007857

  • TSB Reference #00846A

Description: HEADLAMP OR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS FLICKERING OR DIMMING.

I haven't been able to get a version to tell what the fix is yet though.
