I'm trying to figure out what size alt I have so I can get the correct belt. How can I tell? I'm @62k, anything else while I'm changing the belt?

Pull the Delco part number off of the alternator and plug it into Google. That's how I did it on my Dad's Suburban. Instant results!

Look at your code decal. K68 is 105 amp. Check your tensioner and idler pulley to make sure they spin freely without bearing noise.

62k is too early to be changing these belts. They're on a change interval of 120k (I'd never go that long, but 90-100k seems reasonable). I waited until 100k to do mine. I also changed the tensioners and idler pulley. I figured why not, it's every 100k, not too much work or $$ considering the possible problems it prevents.

You live in Texas where the heat will wear stuff quicker. My tensioner and idler pulley were going bad wearing out my belt and making it slip. I don't like noise either! ;-)

If you have a small chirp going on under the hood then I would check your belt pulleys mine went out and took out the belt. The belt was over 80.00 not cheap pulleys were only 26.99.

Well I got my Gatorback, $26 free shipping on Amazon. Once I start digging, I'll see if anything else is shot. I wanted to order a tensioner too, but Amazon didn't have a AC Delco. They had Goodyear tensioner also, but I figured it was probably a rebranded Dayco or something. I'd like to stay OEM but open to suggestions on other brands.
