I've run K&N filters for huindreds of thousands of miles and never had a single issue. I love em!

Just wrap that filter in a couple of layers of newspaper for a while, and that will wick away the excess oil, and everthing will be fine.

I've been giving some thought into a K&N CAI. I don't buy the garbage I hear from the rumor mill about them causing the check engine light to come on because excess oil gets on the sensor. I do believe that most if not all of those people did not PROPERLY oil the thing and used way too much.

If you follow the directions and don't overoil the K&N, you would not have any problems. They don't need to be dripping in oil.

The filter itself won't gain you a damn thing and even the CAI gains are minimal. I'll stick with traditional filters.

To each his own I guess. I ran a K&N full cold air intake on my 97 Z71 and I wasn't impressed but I have been happy with their drop in filters.

I agree with Zembonez in a prior post on the K & N filter. I installed one at 25,000 miles and clean it and spray a new coating of oil on it at 25,000 mile intervals. Like others have said, don't spray too much oil on it and let it dry some before putting it back on the truck. I get around 17 mpg on the highway and 12 mpg in town on my 6.0 gasser.

You don't actually change your air filter every oil change? Man I changed mine at 80,000kms and it was still in good shape, the air box design is very good on these engines, my sunfire on the other hand the air filter is nasty after 30,000kms.

But seriously every oil change HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Send me your "used" filters so I can "recycle" them

As long as you dont over oil them and let them dry completely before installing them, you wont have any problems with an oiled filter. The problem comes when people put too much oil on them and dont let them dry completely. The excess oil gets sucked onto the MAF sensor coils and causes issues.

+1 on that, you wash the filters from the top down, and oil them from the bottom up. I have used a Holly "Powershot" oiled filter on my 01 Z28 (Sara) using the method I described, I have had no issues with the MAF whatsoever.
