New truck back in the shop!

So just took truck out of the shop for a clogged pcv valve which caused misfire code and also resulted in fouling plug #1 due to excess carbon build up. So on to today......... I go to check tranny level cause I saw a class 1 level leak and and just wanted to make sure it was just coolant. So I pull out the dip stik and what do you know the metal routing tube was broken clear in half and just fell in the engine housing plugged it up with a few ear plugs and made it the dealer. Apparently its not an uncommomn problem. But im pretty pisses right now a 40000 truck should not have these issues especially with only 20000 on it and its babied! Just ask my wife hahaha.

Whats the odds the dealer broke your dip stick the last time it was in the shop :dunno:

Kinda what I was thinking. Its also very weak looking metal that on the upper end of it is not secured to anything so it does look like it can get rattled around. they have treated me very well so ill see how the truck fares after this. and if not ill be in a new dodge.

Do what I did....sell it! My truck spent more time in the dealer's service bay then it did in my garage for the first 2 years I had it.

Show me anywhere in the rules where it says that I cannot criticize GM, without making personal attacks (like many of you are doing), and I will leave.

what are you like 17?? me along with the majority of this forum don't give a rats ass if you sold your GM truck and got a vespa...whatever your choice, all brands have issues..if a company made perfect cars there would be only one brand on the road..now please grow the hell up and quit bashing GM on a pro GM website...i don't go over to your ford or dodge or whatever website and bash your brand of choice

You think you got problems now??? Dodge! Really? That truck is a POS period! IMO Dodge makes a great looking car, I am not a big fan of the looks of their trucks. I would love to have a Challenger or a Viper but other than those two, They are all junk and have too many problems.

Please feel free to explain. Being in the army and knowing so many people with trucks its not hard for me to see what trucks have minor or major issues. yes all trucks have some issue or another but just seems lately that GM has fallen off everything from cheap paint, rusting, to a lousy dipstik tube breaking in half. yet GM refuses to listen to its customers and only rely on engineers that seem to have all the answers. 99% of the issues are common sense fixes but your restricted by warranty on what you can do. Im not bashing GM just making valid points that I feel felt throught the GM community. I love my truck but wont put up with a $40,000 truck breaking down like a peice of plastic.

And you are wrong they are actually called Dodge Ram!

The newest Ram trucks are called simply Ram. "Dodge" was taken out of the name. I think that was changed for the 2010 model year. Saying they are all junk is ignorant. Saying all GM products are junk is ignorant also. Grow up people!

Say what you may its still made by Dodge. Although they may market it as simply a Ram but do understand its a Dodge.... Ram! If you read my post I never once said GM was junk did I vent about a few issues I've had here recently YES and there is nothing wrong with that at all infact it creates great topic discussion. I would never do anything to jeopordize my standing here please understand that. I really enjoy using this forum as a source of information and like I said above I love my GM.

I can certainly understand ones frustration if your having problems and maybe wanting to try something different. Fortunately I've had awesome luck with my last 3 GM trucks So far so good with the 2011. Zero issues to date and I've got 17,000 miles

    • My take: I don't think seeing up to 200k on the odometer of any of these engines/trucks (2014-to present) is surprising. (Excluding the known DEFECTS, specifically, the 6.2 main/connecting rod bearing issues, the defective lifters, alternatively parts that a recall was issued for - I think there were three.)   250K is my line in the sand, anything over that is 'surprising', but not limited to the engine making it that far but including the truck surrounding it too. (We've talked about this in other posts, why I think the engine isn't the deciding factor for ultimate mileage.)
    • I included the first gen-cylinder de-activation (active fuel management) in my statement.
    • Hello All!   My 2019 Colorado 3.6 LT, 4WD Crew Cab has approximately 77,500 miles and I recently began experiencing the well-known transmission shudder between about 30 and 65 mph. The problem had worsened to the point that I could no longer attribute it to road conditions - and I had decided to bring the truck to the dealer - when recently, I experienced a sudden loss of power while driving at maybe 40 MPH. Several warning lights flashed, the “Check Stabilitrack” message appeared, and the Check Engine, Stabilitrack, and Traction Control icons remained illuminated. The truck regained driving power, but it stayed in a low gear with unusually high RPMs for the speed. (limp mode?) Because I was only about two miles from home, driving slowly, I was able to make it back and run an OBD-II scan, which showed fault codes U0101, P0700, and U0100. My next trip in the truck was to drive it to the dealer the following day. That trip began normally, but after about a mile I experienced another loss of power, along with the same warning lights and the same “Check Stabilitrack” message. As before the truck remained driveable, but again operated at an abnormally high RPM-to-speed ratio and seemed stuck in a single gear. About a mile later, the dashboard lit up once more, this time displaying “Check 4WD.” Soon after that, I arrived at the dealer. I have verified that the truck still has its original factory transmission fluid, which means it has never received the corrective fluid exchange outlined in GM Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355.  That was Thursday of last week and I've heard nothing yet from the dealer.    According to Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355 and the build date of my truck, my truck should have the newer LV fluid. I've done a little research and read something about a problem with the wiring harness as well.   Anyone have an insights into this situation?  Thank you!!

    • Did you even read this article?   Even the title of the article says "U.S.-Iran Deal Doesn’t Mean a Swift Return of Oil and Gas Flows"   Remember, crude oil prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the oil companies.  Gas prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the station.  This article stated that many of the oil producing nations have to restart their processes to get the oil produced.  Then the oil has to be shipped to wherever.  And it doesn't get there overnight.  And most of that oil is not coming here. Check out this site:  https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10621   A graph will pop up to show where the US imports their oil from.  Notice that there isn't a lot of import from OPEC and Iraq.  Most of the US import comes from Canada. The US oil produces are selling their oil on the open market, which is why the US fuel costs went up.  So you're correct, the US oil companies are going to slow walk the price downward.
