Ok please identify what forum rules were broken.

To NoMoreGM4Me & tanker4lyfe don't let the door hit you on the way out of this forum. Bye! And Mr. Tanker, no more Dodge trucks they are now called Ram.

Lou

And you are wrong they are actually called Dodge Ram!

No I'm not, you are! They are made by Chrysler who make Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and Ram Trucks.

In reponse to the statement "all manufactures have minor and major issues," it even crosses over to the "luxury" German cars as well. My wife has an 05 Audi and if you read some forums out there you will find that VW and Audi have their fair share of minor and major problems. And expensive to fix at that.

I was working on my wife's Audi replacing the intake and exhause manifold gaskets and I broke both the dipstick tube and an oil vent tube. Both are made of very cheap plastic. We also had to replace all vac hoses on the car because they were all rotten and causing multiple codes. That was a pretty penny.

I know it's not the best comparison but I guess my point is that even the "luxury" cars out there have their share of problems as well whether they be minor or major problems.

Do what I did....sell it! My truck spent more time in the dealer's service bay then it did in my garage for the first 2 years I had it.

ryan, skid this guy as once again,he cant stop bashing the general

Show me anywhere in the rules where it says that I cannot criticize GM, without making personal attacks (like many of you are doing), and I will leave.

You sold your GM truck (if you had one) and now you join a GM site to bash and talk trash about GM as every post you made is negative. Like I said before you joined just to piss people off and create problems.

Somebody in the mod department ban this kid as he is not using this site as its designed for.

That is correct.

Actually, the Ram trucks having nothing to do with Dodge anymore. Ram is it's own division and is owned by Fiat (yes, from Italy) with an assist from the U.S. taxpayer and as such it stands alongside the Chrysler and Jeep divisions, not under either one of them.

I had a lot of warranty visits with my truck when I first got it. Front diff rebuilt, new rear axle and seal, oil pan leak, front pump seal, blower motor, and a power steering pump. it was crazy ridiculous. Oh, the rear brakes were replaced due to the leaking fluid from the bad rear axle seal.

It's been fine since, and I like the truck. But that was a bit excessive IMHO. However, GM didn't bat an eye - they just fixed it. No complaints there. I'm not sure how good a job they did on the front differential.

Sounds like you had a Monday or Friday built vehicle at a plant they were closing. ;-)

No offense, but I'm a GM man at heart, but my GMT-900 is a POS. If the general doesn't want to be bashed, the he should put some money back into quality. My '08 SD has 1/10 the quality of my '00 Z71.

Sounds like someone is a little bit to much of a GM fanboy.....

Agreed! The GMT400s and GMT800's were great trucks...the GMT900's have their strong points, but overall, the cheap build quality, abundance of cheap, chinese parts and cost-cutting make them nothing but street-queen Home Depot and grocery getter rigs.

The GMT900's were being developed pre-bankruptcy, so cost-cutting was a top priority as this vehicle was a top-seller and profitable and GM's only hope to survive. It still didn't help unfortunately. All it did was drive away many of the most loyal GM fans they had. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

It is too bad. Personally, my '08 Sierra is the nicest looking GM truck I've owned inside and out, best power train, nicest ride, just a lot of issues. :(

Every mfr has problems/issues, but a lot on this vehicle is just from cheaping out on build quality.

I respectfully disagree. My prior truck was a GMT800 (am '06 GMC 1500). My current '11 Silverado 1500 is IMHO, a big improvement in refinement over my previous truck. Nothing major with the old truck, nothing broke, it's just the newer truck handles better, stops better, has better fit and finish, and no rattles in the new one. Again, IMHO, it's just an all around better vehicle. One thing I did not like about the new vehicle which bugged me was the darn cloth seats, but I corrected that with a Clazzio leather seat cover upgrade. MUCH BETTER now.

To all the brand bashing out there, Ford, Dodge and GM all make quality products, the problem posted by the OP although sounding unbelievable could have happened... with any vehicle! I work at a site that makes short work of every brand due to heavy beating and I'll tell you they are all "junk" in the end! Oil dipstick tube being "weak looking metal" give me a break! We got 30+ GMT 900 getting abused and I'll tell you never seen a motor fail, or a dipstick tube, just electronics and the odd transmission (abuse) (4L60e) I work a coal pile. We ship them out "finished" with just about 100,000kms but the hours of a 400,000kms vehicle. So I get first hand sight at what age will do! -end rant

GMT-800's we had did have stepper motor problems in 50% and almost every vehicle (to this day) had the evap solenoid bypassed

Disagree that the 400's and 800's were better trucks. Have you forgotten about the ongoing steering shaft clunks, bad gauge clusters, bad 4x4 switch panels, transfer case pump rub leak, shoddy rear disc brakes, porous casetec heads, weak front t-bar suspension, etc etc etc... The 900s have some issues as well, but I think we've come a long way.
