Looking at new 2500HD. Have a couple of questions.

I am probably going to look at a new 2011 2500HD tonight and wanted some opinions on prices and trade-in's.

The truck is a 2011 Silverado 2500HD crew cab 4x4 with the 6.0. It stickers for $43,115 and they are advertising it for $34,115. The $9,000 discount includes the extra $1,000 for owner loyalty rebate, $1,000 trade-in rebate, and $2,505 standard rebate. So the dealer is basically discounting it $4,495. Is this a good discount amount?

If I buy the truck, I would be trading in my 2004 Silverado 1500 crew cab 4x4. It has 72,000 miles. I've printed out the kbb trade-in value to get an idea of what I might get. What have you guys been seeing for trade-in's from dealerships?

I also have a couple of other incentives that I will not tell the dealer about until the very end. My GM card is letting me use $3,000 of earnings, there is a $500 farm bureau rebate, and I have a $1,000 private offer rebate from GM.

without checking kbb, I'm going to guess you could get 12-14K out of a private party sale..I wouldn't take less than 12 on a trade in

Sounds like a good deal on the new truck. It will come down to a reasonable price on the trade. I'd print out 3 different resources/references for your trucks value. It's hard to argue with 3.

I've printed out kbb, nada, and edmunds values. Kbb and nada are close in range for trade-in around $13-14K, but edmunds is less than $10K. I don't know why edmunds is soo different. I even ran it twice thinking I messed something up. I have seen trucks in my age range and mileage listed at dealerships for between $17-19K.

I ordered my truck from our dealer group at cost and the dealer rebate was around $5K, so sounds like your deal reflects most of the dealer profit rebated back to you.

I went last night and test drove it. First thing they said to me was that there was an error on the price on their website that has now been fixed, but the would honor the price the qouted me. This morning they raised the price $600.

They offered me $12,500 for my truck on trade-in. I told them I thought it was a little low. It was pulling teeth to get them to $13,000. The salesman told me that they couldn't go higher because the they didn't have any room for profit to sell it. Yet, they had an '06 with the same mileage on their lot for $19,900. After a lot of debating, I agreed to $13,000.

We started the paperwork and then they started telling me I couldn't use all of the rebates/offers that I had. I couldn't use the $1,000 private offer from Chevrolet while using my GM Card earnings. My GM Card earnings are not bonus earnings, just an increase in the redemption limit. Then the told me I couldn't use the $500 farm bureau offer while using the owner loyalty rebate. I was on the fence about trading and then not being able to use the rebates, I told them no deal.

I'm going to look at a couple of other dealerships and see what kind of deals they have. There is a truck at the dealership that is a mile from my house. My dad has always told me I was never allowed to buy a vehicle from them. He worked there 30+ years ago and was let go so they could hire a owners son. To this day he won't go into the dealership.

If your a costco member they have their preferred pricing. I used that plus no BS attitude to get my new 2012 1500. Good luck and never be afraid to walk away.

My 2 cents 1) Go to Chevrolet Silverado website and select the 2011 options you what and then do a search for so many miles you are willing to go to by a truck mind you county tax's,city, and state tax's vary, also mind you you are looking for what is left over from a all ready tight supply of 2011, in LS and LT trims 2) Go to the list of dealerships and ask for a PO (purchase order) this will included the price for your truck for trade and the price of there truck and them all rebates and discounts and then what is left is trade difference, tell him thank-you and go to the next dealer, and show him this and ask him not to match but beat this PO,they may wait a few days to get back with you as they check or not check that this is a true PO and not a fake, and what they what to do with your trade. Then to the next and so on till you get down to 2,this may take a few weeks.A word on your trade they will look at auctions price and call some second hand car markets to see if they can sell it out right or what it is worth most dealership only want on there lots today cars/trucks that are under 3-36,000 mile warrenty's,but if they need to move 2011 inventory they will work that deal till death due you part your ways one way or the other. As far as rebates go these can get tricky some are regional only with alot of restrictions,my advise is for you to get a supplier discount from a friend or neighbor or some one on this site for GM allows you to give there supplier code to a friend or family member still I believe. This would knock off another depending on how your truck is loaded another 2500-2800 dallors more. One word of advise do not tell them you have a supplier code till all trade valve and rebates and dealer discount has been applied. So it would look some thing like this MSRP-dealer discount-GM rebates in effect-supplier discount, and then minus trade, ask also Ally for a fiance quote and you can receive a additional 500.00 if that program is still in effect, again regional is in effect right now were supply is big.Dealer discounting is deep not to confused with GM rebates. This will really come down to which dealer is gonna dealer discount the most for rebates are gonna stay the same.Well that is enough for me.If you have any questions about doing this please ask,for this can get a little fustrating as General Mangers do not like to get into competition with each other and one also has to be aware that one Auto Group might own 2 dealerships that you are getting bids from and it might be a dealer trade for them as well, this gets a little compelcated but they get to get rid of one, just to sell you a truck from another. Also if your not sure what rebates are yours and what works with your GM credit Card simply call GM and they will tell you to the penny what you qualify for.Keep us posted for this is the time to be buying. Also you are aware that a new/redesign truck will a 8 speed/improved powertrain as well will be coming soon like late Aug/Sept 2012.But I suspect these trucks will not be discounted too much for the remainder or MY 2012.

The GM card earnings can be combined with either the Farm bureau or the privated offer. You can not use both the private offer and the farm bureau( GM considers both of them private offers and you can only use one private offer at a time) Were you using a supplier discount or credit union discount? That would be the only reason you could not use the GM card. What we do for our customers is to use preffered prcing and the add the memo to it and them let them use there card earnings( memo is what GM pays the dealership for accepting preffered pricing. Preffered pricing is usually 3-400 below invoice and memo would be about $2-300 bucks) Get me a vin and I will tell you exactly what invoice and preffer price is.

Late 2012? Everything I've read indicates late 2013 (2014 model). Considering the amount of change coming, I don't think it's a bad idea to buy the last of the GMT900's myself. I can only imagine the bugs to be worked out in new DI motors (almost certain) and 8-spd autos (big maybe, since multiple articles have stated that they will continue w/ 6-spd autos for now). Are HD trucks being updated at the same time?

if it doesn't matter to you i would definitely try to get a leftover '11. my dad and i both bought left over '11's in the past 2 months and got great deals on both of them. me an HD and him a 1/2 ton

I wasn't using supplier or credit union pricing. My dad had supplier pricing with his job and it only actually worked once. The rest of the time, it interferred with too many other discounts to worth using. Onetime we negotiated a price and then asked about supplier and the negotiated price was about $200 lower.

I have an email into gm customer service requesting clarification of what offers can be used together.

The vin of the truck I was looking at is 1GC1KXCG3BF255936.

I can give you the friends discount wich is equal to the supplier discount if you want.

quite honestly your deal didn't sound to bad,my 2011 LT was stickered at 46388.00 negociated down to 38,000.00, less 5000.00 for my 1991 silverado, for a purchase price of 33,000.00.

Interesting with all the hype around TrueCar.Com contracts with dealerships around the country. I ran your VIN and it came up with a Dealer Cost of 38210.00; Market Average (zip code 43044-1026) 40499.00; Factory Invoice 42018.00; MRSP 44400.00. GM MSRP window sticker is at 42120.00. That is a difference of 2280.00 KBB pricing came up with MSRP 43115.00. Fair Price was 40778.00. Invoice was 40018. It also must be pointed out that these website do not uploaded new pricing from GM when they come out right away for the difference between TrueCar and KKB was a difference of MSRP was 1285.00 with Truecar the higher MSRP Invoice also reflected a difference of 2000.00 again True Value reporting higher pricing. One wonders why all these state's are looking into TrueCar contracts with dealerships, but not for pricing mind you.Holdback is reported at 1302.00 from TrueCar.The way I billed your truck was as follows Interior plus, roof marker, snow prep, mirrors heated, power, inside mirror dimming,18"wheel package,HD trailer pkg, rear axle 3.73 standard. Total pkg option was 2960.00.So who is right TrueCar, KKB it just goes to show you what really is dealer invoice inless the dealership confines in you them being a 1 car dealership or a multi auto grp.It really comes down to bidding the PO all the way till you arrive at 1 PO left. Then when you are left with one PO hit them with the supplier code, also back of auction book is what they will go for your trade,so beware.Capitalism at it's finest.
