I'm shocked...

Every time I get out of my truck and I grab the door to shut it, I get zapped with static electricity.

So I decided as soon as I open the door, I touch the door frame and keep holding it until I am out of the truck.

Well, this seemed to work for a while, until I noticed while I am touching the door frame and sliding off the seat, the static electricity continuously jolts through my hand to the truck as if I am being electrocuted with a small voltage.

I don't know what to do to stop the static electricity.

 

I think it has something to do with the humidity and wind in our area.

 

Sometimes it really zaps me good.

 

I have the cloth power front driver seat, with the rubber floor mats.

 

Anyone else have this problem?

I get it once in a while, but not very often like you. When mine tends to do it, it gets me really good

Take a anti-static dryer sheet and rub it all over the surface of the seat,you will need to do this every 2-3 weeks,it works,I had a chevy venture once that shocked me bad everytime I got out,I tried the trick with the dryer sheet and it worked.Also touching the glass before you exit defuses a lot of the charge.Hope this helps.

Gotta love the drier months of the year. I try to avoid moving around much in the seat while driving to avoid the build up but there are times I get a good jolt.

Get somebody to hold your hand when you get out........ It will get them instead... Na, the weather around here is great for static shock...... I do the grab metal before and and during exiting the vehicle.

Careful when fueling. Saw one of those fires caused by that. Not pretty.
