Just wondering what you all think?  Yea they were wrong but if they make him resign are we giving up our freedom of speech?  I kinda see it both ways

I think people are over reacting.

What he said was no big thing. I highly doubt he was intentionally endorsing seperatisim. Anyone knows that would be political suicide.

All he meant was that he thought the US would have been better if a republican was in the white house during that span of time.

People need to lighten up...  :wtf:

IMHO I don't think that he said anything wrong.  He just wasn't clear in what he meant to say.  The everyone just took that out of context and ran with it.  Basically he spoke without thinking.  Open mouth, insert foot.   :wtf:

I just want him to step down because he was already a weak leader, and all this situation is going to do is make him weaker.  He gives in to the Democrats, mainly Dashcle's strong arming, too often.  I would rather see our party, who is in power again, have a stronger leader who can keep our party on the right line and not give in so much to the bleeding-heart liberals...I know alot of Republican agree with this...we have too much to lose coming up in the next couple years...must have strong leadership...

So...what did he say anyway?   ???

Tom,

Lott was giving a farewell speech to retiring SC Republican Strom Turmond who ran for president back the 40s or 50s.  All Lott said was  "And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years either".  Thurmond was a segregationist (as were alot of Democrats in thoses days) back then and now all the lefties are up in arms calling Lott a racist  :) !

Like Mervz said, it's all being blown out of context.  The Dems are on the ropes after getting their collective asses handed to them last election and this is all they can can come up with now; stirring up more racial tension and then conning minorities that the Republican party is racist.  Same old song and dance...if we're not starving our seniors to death then we're racist monsters!  :wtf:

But like Sincity sez-good riddance to Lott.  I too think he has been a weak leader and not aggressive enough in pushing conservative policy.  How about Rick Santorum for a new Senate Maj leader??

Yep :thumb: He has given in too their demands too much, and I don't want him giving in to liberals especially when the weapons bans come up for renewal in 2004, we don't need the little we can get anymore added to the bill.

God help the liberals when I get my butt elected to the US Senate...only have about 14 years to go until I am eligible, but I will get there...then it will be on :wtf:

  Call me if you need a highly partisan campaign manager!  I'm too ugly to run for office but I can write you some fiery right-wing speeches!   :)

Sweet, those are the kinda speeches I am looking for.  I will need some good help.  I figure in a few years I will try for something at the state level, then the House, then the Sentate...hopefully.

Why with some good speeches, my ice-cold conservative heart, semi-good looks, my cute dogs...I oughta win :D
