What's this Thin Sheet Metal and Wavy Bed Rails you Speak Of?

i went and picked up some new furniture yesterday. and the guy loading everything up was walking all over my bed rails! at first i freaked out thinking he was going to ding and dent the top of my rails, which are not sprayed with bed liner.

as i was waving my hands frantically to get the dumbo to get down i about had a panic attack. i then looked to see if he caused any damage and to my surprise there was none. despite the fact he did no harm, i told him to not walk up there again, these new trucks have thin sheet metal. not to mention he probably left some minor scratches from his boots that i'll have to inspect better under a bright halogen light; luckily white paint doesn't show stuff like that under normal day light.

so whats this thin sheet metal and wavy bed rails people get over worked about? i thought it was a problem? :smash:

I would have had a fit. I know it's a truck and I don't care much about the bed (it'll be line-x'ed this summer), but I like the paint on the rails looking good. I don't want to spray or cover them.

I think some people just have bad luck or want to whine about it. I have had some pretty crazy things in my '10's bed and my '08's bed, along with heavy things on the rails with no issues.

Although, it def is sheet metal compared to 15 years ago

LOL, no he was working at RoomStore which is going bankrupt, which is why i was buying new furniture in the first place. can't beat 75% off the original sale price for stuff still in the box. before he loaded my truck he was dancing around their warehouse singing "everyday i'm hustlin" :nonod:

BTW, this little 1500 carried about a 700 lbs load stacked and strapped about 10 feet high above the ground, going 50 mph down I-10 with no problems at all. rear sat about level with the stock front ride height. i told them i could make a 2nd trip, but they just kept stacking and stacking boxes!

That's funny you say that. I picked up a BIG ass sectional, a chair (Everything reclines), with another chair and a ottoman from Gallery Furniture 2 months ago, and they stacked every bit in one load, even with my tool box. They insisted that it was done everyday all day this way.

Apparently they don't offer delivery in Texas? :dunno:

ehh...... I wasn't going to pay an extra $150 just so I don't have to do manual labor. I always choose the harder way for myself, I feel it builds character.:smash: I'm 24 so I might as well do it while I can, and throw that $150 at some quality beer and whiskey.

And I have a hard time trusting other people with $3k worth of stuff unless I have no choice.

I was thinking the same thing . Was like ummm why cant he stand on the side . Its a truck..... Its meant to get scratched up on the back a bit and I climb on mine all the time loading things in my truck . No scratches on it yet . If i do get a scratch I just fill it in with a bit of touch up paint and if it looks really bad I will get some caps for it .

BUT the guy should of asked if he could stand on it . I would of said yes but like the OP some people treat there trucks like Kens (the barbe guy) truck and use there truck as a nice people mover and tow once in a while and there is no problem with that .

Trucks are meant to be used as trucks I agree but I agree with the OP. My opinion is I paid for it so if anyone is going to do anything to it it will be me or someone in my immediate family not someone who could care less about my property.
