Hey

Does anyone here like fishing? I have an okay rod but my line keeps snapping and i keep losing hooks and lures. Anyone know the best kind of fishing line??

Hmm I use Suffix line, I'm not a fan of braid. The Suffix manages to stay untangled better than most. I use Palomar and regular fishing knots. I usually set my drag to 50% of the line's rating and usually adjust some after that. I only go 50% cause a good fish can snap it easily if it's set much higher. Plus I can always ride the spool if I need more drag after I'm hooked up.

Hmmm i will have to try out the Suffix line then, im so tired of watching my lures swim away from me!! I did manage to catch some nice big bass last year but i know that bigger ones got away :(

Sad to say I have only done sports fishing a few times in my life. I have got hundreds of thousands of salmon, tuna, prawns, halibut, octo, cod and other species commercial fishing but a rod a lure have not done that much . Tuna fishing is kinda like sports fishing when you troll for it .

I fish mainly for bass. I use 10# and 12# mono line. There could be a number of reasons why your line is breaking. If you line is old, it can get brittle from use and UV rays. There could be nicks in the line from the line guides on the rod, from rocks under the water, or just from the traveling to/from the lake. I tend to spool new line on each Spring and many times by the end of summer, the line starts breaking off when I tie my knots. I sometimes have to strip off around 4-5 feet of line to get to a good section.

Tell us more about what you fish for, the line size, rod - reel info, lures, etc. And pics of the big ones?

Wow! Lots of big fish. I am going deep sea fishing in Georgia here in a few weeks. Can't wait! Here is a pic of a nice bass I caught a while back.

Nice fish on here! Biggest we caught last year was a 52.5 pound flathead, counting the 5 pound channel whose tail was sticking out his mouth.

I use the braided line, but will spool off a few feet before the first time I go out fishing to make sure its fresh line and haven't lost any lures yet.

You weighed it ? Because most fish feel a lot heavier than they actually are.

^ good advice, fresh line is key. And yeah we weighed it, hence the .5. Hoping to get into some bigger ones this year, maybe scratch the 70 pound mark... If we're lucky. Gonna try to find the big bass as well.
