Fishing anyone?

I fish mainly for bass. I use 10# and 12# mono line. There could be a number of reasons why your line is breaking. If you line is old, it can get brittle from use and UV rays. There could be nicks in the line from the line guides on the rod, from rocks under the water, or just from the traveling to/from the lake. I tend to spool new line on each Spring and many times by the end of summer, the line starts breaking off when I tie my knots. I sometimes have to strip off around 4-5 feet of line to get to a good section.

Tell us more about what you fish for, the line size, rod - reel info, lures, etc. And pics of the big ones?

My Line was new last year but it was the stuff that came with the rod, so im guessing they were cheap and just threw on whatever no name line. So i wanted ideas on which lines were nice and strong, I manly fish for bass there is a lot in the lake at my cottage. I used many different lures a lot of weighted ones so im guessing it was to much for the line with that plus a fish. My big fish pictures will look like midgets next to the rest of the pictures on here hahaha.

I am guessing that the line was crap on the rod when you bought it. There is no telling when the reel was spooled with it. I would suggest that you get any name-brand mono in the 10-12# range. That should be enough for the lures that you are throwing. Always check the line for nicks and abrasions. Retie your lures frequently as if they bang on underwater structures it could weaken them. Make sure the drag on the reel is not too tight so that the fish will be able to pull a little when you're playing it. Good Luck! Post some pics of your bigger ones.

Thanks Frogfish, those are pretty much the biggest ones in the lake up at the cottage. I'm going to BC this summer so hope to do some fishing there and catch some big ones.

Easytide was that directed at me because of my small fish??
