automatic climate control

i have a 2007 Tahoe LTZ with the front & rear automatic climate controls.

The rear unit has a feature called "mimic mode" where the rear controls will copy the front control setting as long

as you do not change anything on the rear controls. This mode of operation "mimic mode" has stopped working for me.

I now have to manually adjust the temperature of the rear control by using that control, The rear control no longer copies

what I adjust and set the front controls to...

Any idea what is wrong?

I'm not familiar with this feature as I don't have it in my Sierra but....

Just for giggles, did you try to disconnect your battery for a few minutes, reconnect, then give it go?

It seems with all the computer controls we now have sometimes things just need a reboot to get things working again.

My Silverado only has dual zone but on that I can to a similar function for the passenger side by making sure the "PASS" light is off on the panel. Does your truck have a "REAR" button or anything similar on the main control or the slave unit?

On my 06, I can press and hold the Auto button, for 3 seconds, and it will control Driver and Passenger at the same time. Might try that.

Push the "rear" button to turn it off and on and it should cause the rear controls to mimic the front again. That's how mine works anyway. If someone in the back adjusts the temp you'll need to "reset" it from the front by turning it off and on again.

Here's what is in the owner manual of my 2007 Tahoe (problem: rear temp. will not mimic front temp. settings anymore)

Rear Air Conditioning and Heating

System and Electronic Climate

Controls

If your vehicle has this system, the rear heat and

air conditioning controls are integrated with the

rear seat audio controls located in the center

console. The system can be controlled from the

front controls as well as the rear controls.

To turn the system on, press the AUX button on

the front climate control system, an indicator will be

lit. Pressing the AUX button the first time will

turn the rear system on in a mimic mode. In this

mode, the airflow in the rear will be approximately

the same direction, temperature, and fan speed

as the front. Pressing the AUX button again

will turn the rear system and the indicator off.

If the rear controls are adjusted, the system will

enter a rear independent mode. Airflow in the rear

will then be directed according to the settings of

rear controls. The rear system can be turned off by

pressing the AUX button on the front climate

control system and the indicator will turn off.

If the indicator in the front AUX button is off, the

rear system is off.

update on actual fault:

I press the "aux" button on the front controls, but the rear controls fail to turn on. I can then manually turn

on the rear controls, but now it won't mimic the front controls for temperature etc. (this is correct functionality)

If I press the "aux" button on the front controls again, the rear controls will shut off.

So the problem is the the signal to the rear controls to "turn on" doesn't work from the" aux" button on the front controls.

So what is at fault, the front controls or the rear controls?
