Underrail bed lighting switch location?

Im looking to install some form of under rail bed lighting. The question I have is where to mount the switch?? ( I do want it mounted in the bed vs inside the cab)

I did a search and came up with nothing, the only thing I have ever seen before was the switch was mounted in the hole in the bedside below the stake pocket. Im not to fond of that idea because of water getting to the switch during rain/ washing. Im thinking of setting up a big toggle under the bed rail on a home made bracket of a sort. This would keep it mostly dry and out of the elements, out of the way of anything I may be carrying in the bed and still easily accessible.

Any thoughts/ opinions? Or if there is a link to a write up or anything like that on this please post it so I can view it and this thread can be delted.

Thanks in advance, Josh

wallace, your not worried about the switch getting wet and then shorting out?

Blackz71, Thats actually the write up that I saw that gave me the idea! The only thing I dont like is that the switch it out in the elements.

Ive come to the conclusion that im going to either make a bracket out of sheet metal that will be mounted under the bed rail to house the switch or im going to locate the switch inside the truck somewhere. I am leaning more twords installing it inside the truck, just that brings me to another issue as to where haha.... I will post pics of my install when the parts all get here and I have time to install them.

The switch i installed was a waterproof switch. You can see where I put mine in the thread linked above. I have not had a single problem with mine to date. It gets to -30C in the winter up here and +30C in the summer and no change in functionality of the switch.

Mason, Thanks... I like where you mounted your switch and ill have to really consider that for mine. I did order both a waterproof switch and the rubber boot for over top of it (cheap insurance)
