Hello,

I've noticed my 2002 chevy silverado 1500 ext-cab 5.3l v8 is making a weird noise. It seems to be only when it's warm outside (I live in southern california) it didn't do it much in the winter but now that things are heating up it's making the noise. I seem to notice it when I'm coming to a stop or idling. I do not know how to describe the sound.... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41698/Video%20Apr%2012%2C%203%2057%2035%20PM.mov

The only way someone told me to describe it as is it sounds like I have a walrus stuck in my glovebox...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ian

You got a way of uploading this to youtube or something like that? My computer is having an issue playing the video clip.

I don't think it has anything to do with the fan... (I could be wrong) because #1 it happens when the air is set to 0 and it's not really blowing and I don't notice it happening more when the AC or heater is on.... It just seems to happen intermittently.....

any ideas on how to isolate it further or test it? I tested the power steering and all that magic no issues there...

I might be wrong but I think there might be a walrus in your glove box...oh wait you said that...lol

Seriously though, thanks for the upload. Have you tried to have your glove box open when the noise happens? That way you can start getting ideas of exactly where the noise is coming from. Is sounds like a dying blower motor right off hand but there is WAY too many things under the dash these days that cause noises.
