New K&N air intake... What a difference!

Installed a K&N on my Sierra. I was septical on thier HP gains but still wanted to install it before I got my Autocal. I was pleasently suprised, What a difference! Runs so much stronger and a bit louder. Cant wait for the next step and get the tune

The Spectre I put on did not give me any noticeable gains except for cosmetics. But I already had long tube headers. It actually seemed to lower my idle slightly but that could have been the adjustment period the MAP Sensor went thru on initial install. I don't hear the intake at all but I have not revved it up and again I have the headers which dominate most of the sound. Or so it seems. Everything is so illusional nowdays it is hard to tell what is exactly. Or maybe that is just my age persuasion.

Hate to burst your bubble but these "gains" you think you feel are in your head because of the noise from under the hood.

The CAI has very minimal gains if any and will only be at higher rpms (5,000 +), that's it. There have been many tests to prove this. Don't get me wrong I have a CAI myself for looks and lifetime filter. Wasn't looking for gains, wanted to have a clean look under the hood.

On my 2010 Silverado 5.3l I recently installed the k&n 63-3070, and was only mainly interested on appreance and sound, everything else to me would be just a perk. I was just looking for a deal on the Airaid MIT, but came across the k&n set up for a similar price so I couldn't pass it up. However, especially after Justin readjusted my BlackBear tune, the intake and tune has made improvements thoughout the rpm range. The motor seems to work with less effort than before with the stock set up. Before when climbing grades on my daily commute the truck would get out of v4 and go back to v8 mode to keep speed, but now it stays in v4 longer or doesn't change modes at all. In addition WOT seems to pull stronger and inital acceleration is definatly more responsive. To me the mod was worth it, but everyone had their own opinion.

You are talking about a custome tune that you have, specifically tuned to work with your CAI. The OP got a CAI and slapped it on the truck, not comparable my friend. Having a custom tune done and slapping in a CAI is not even in the same class.
