Finally Solved Misfire at Highway Cruise Speed

I have been chasing this misfire for weeks and I thought I might pass along what I discovered. My Truck is a 2000 Chevy C3500 HD with the 5.7. I went the normal path with plugs, wires, two new caps because it was seeming to stay with the 5,6,7 cylinders according to my snap on MT2500 scanner. I finally found a thread here that discussed the distributor and the drive gear being of an issue with so many trucks. My truck has 252,000 miles on it and the distributor gear sounded logical. I started paying attention to the cam position sensor and noticed that it was -12 retarded. I loosened the clamp and adjusted the distributor till it was in time and viola the miss is gone. So with the late firing it must have been causing the misfire because it has not returned for two days. I thought this might help someone else.
