Maggy 14 is getting cut off, any ideas to replace it?

My buddy's pipe just fell of his '89 Ford after the cat. The muffler fell off about a year ago. So the plan is to take the maggy 14" off my truck and give to him, so he can remove the cat and replace with new piping and the muffler. I haven't been happy with the drone of it lately, and it wont drone on his (it doesn't drone now with no exhaust)

 

Anyways, I'm looking for ideas on what I should get to replace it. Have condsidered Dynomax #17233, 20 inch body, or a 22 inch Magnaflow. I'm looking to clean up the look of the truck some, so I'd like to dump the factory pipe where it's at a 45 degree angle right after the rear axle so it's more out of sight. I'm thinking that would still give a decent sound, hopefully with no drone. Any thoughts from you guys?

I think it is a 5" x 7" x 22" Magnaflow on my wife's '05 tahoe, and she loves it. It is a great sound with no drone, even the kids dig it. It was louder than the MBRP i had on my truck (at idle) so i went ahead and put a 14" magnaflow on my truck cause the wife's truck can't sound better then mine.
