Bleeding GMT900 brakes with ABS

When I change out my pads and rotors, I'm waiting to put a set of stainless steel brakes lines on my truck as well.

Since I am going to have to bleed the brakes, will I just need to bleed the lines or do I need to bleed the ABS system as well?

I was thinking about picking up a Motive Powerbleeder for the lines and if I have to have to bleed the ABS system, I'll just take it to a dealer since I don't have the scantool to do it.

Anybody know how much a dealer might charge to bleed the ABS system? If it's not too much I'd probably just have them bleed the entire system while they are at it.

Try speedbleeder.com

I have not put them on the Avy yet, but I have them on my Grand Prix and RX 350 and I was able to bleed the entire system easily by myself.

If you change out the lines you will likely need to bleed the abs with a scan tool. I can't tell you how much.

When I had an 01 Z06 from 01-05, I did over 40 trackdays (roadcourse not that staightline BS) I had more brake fluid thru my car then oil. :) Some guys would bleed, go out and activate ABS a few times then bleed again. Not sure if this was 100% a fool proof way. I bleed the brake fluid with a Vacuum Brake bleeder that connects to my air compressor. I suck all of the fluid out of the reservoir, fill with fresh fluid and then start from the caliper furthest away to the closest. I can do this without removing the wheels/tires.

no you do not need to bleed the abs. replace your rubber lines, and bleed the calipers just like you normally would. yes you can bleed it with the abs but youll be wasting your time

bleed my truck without Tech2 tool, I pulled ABS fuse, then drive around a bit, that will move all ABS piston to home position, now bleed the system just like a none ABS car.

then put ABS fuse back, hook up my scantool (not Tech2) clear the code
