What is the largest tire size i can mount on 2002 Z71 factory aluminum rims? I have the torsions bars cranked up one inche so the truck stays level. I am trying to avoid tire rub, and to much weight on the t-bars.

285s will fit with ease.  I had them on without rubbing on my 01 Z71 long before I ever got around to cranking my torsion bars.  Get some 285s, you will not be disappointed.

285/75/16's are about as big as you want to go on a 7" wide rim.  In fact according to most tire manufacturers the stock rim isn't wide enough to handle a tire that size.  However I'm sure it is a disclaimer to protect them from abnormal wear etc...

If you need to go taller, then look at a tall/narrow tire and then alot of the clearance issues will be bypassed.  Most rubbing occurs because of width not height.

I disagree, I've got 295/75/16s on my factory rims...never had a problem with rubbing or scraping.  I only cranked the torsion bars for the look of the truck.

But I will agree about most rubbing issues are caused because of the tire being too wide.

That's cool!!!  You aren't disagreeing with me...  just the tire engineers.

In my opinion, if you have to go taller then go a little narrower if you are running a stock rim...

I am currently running 305/70-16's on my Z71.

I have the bars cranked in front, but only for the looks part. and the back is lowered 2 inches so it doesn't sit higher than the front.

No problems with any tire rubbing or clearance issues.

I guess it would of helped if I woulda included the type of tire I am running.  I am running Goodyear Wrangler ATS.

I installed a set of Xterrain 305/70-16 on 16x8 wheels with 4-5/8" backspacing and had some minor rubbing on the front drivers side wheel when backing up and turning right.  I trimmed the plastic about an inch and it is good.  I did install a body lift afterwards just becasue I already had it.  A 305 might work on the stock wheel if it does not have the large lugs on the edges.
