Will not start

I have a 2003 GMC 1500HD crew cab with the 6.0L engine. Thursday night the truck would not start? The indicator said I was in 2nd gear but I was in park. I ran the shifter through all the gears and verified the truck would go into neutral. I checked the shift cable and it’s good. I pulled the neutral safety switch and replaced it with a new one from the dealer with no luck? The truck still indicates 2nd and will not start. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Got it!! Thanks to JustAnswer.com It did cost me but it was better than leaving my truck at work for the rest of the weekend. Anyways it needed to have the range selector (neutral safety switch) code cleared... Grabbed my scan tool and off to the truck I went. Cleared codes and drove home!!! Hopefully this might help someone else in the future.
