Definately stick with 4.10. 3.73s are a stock option and not what you want with your setup. I paid around $1600 for my 88s, and I would not hesitate to have it professionally done.

I'm set of 4.10's! It's been awhile since my Dad has done anything too technical with vehicles so I found a shop that'll charge roughly a grand, so I think I'll be ordering a yukon ring set, do I have to buy the installation kit??

Yes get an install kit too, it comes with the seals and shims. the ring and pinion set doesnt include that stuff

You might need a case change in the front. I had to change mine to do 4.10's.

 

Definitely get the install kit..

 

You're speedo is gonna be off anywhere between 10-15mph (70mph will actually be 60), and you're not gonna really be blown away by the gear change until you tune torque management out and calibrate everything. You'll immediate notice more towing capacity tho..

 

This was all new to me a couple months ago and now I got my truck put together and it's great..

Not sure.. Whatever came stock w my truck... I originally had 3.08's.

 

The t case had to w changed according to 4 Wheel Parts..

 

But you may be right.. You came stock w 3.42's.. You may not need a change.

Transfer case? Wtf are yall talking about? I hope you mean new CARRIERS. Nothing needs to be done to the t case. Op, make sure that grand includes both diffs.

Yeah for both diffs... And you're prob right about that.. I wanna say was a front differential case..

 

I realize I'm not a GM tech but I just re-geared and have a similar setup so I thought id put in my 2 cents

It's a grand for both of em! It's the only place for 150+ miles that'll do it, sucks living in a small town sometimes.. nahh just kidding. All I need to order is the gears which will be yukon 4.11's and 2 minor install kits? Pick up is in good condition I don't think I'll need the bearings

Whats the advantage of a Truetrac over the factory G80?

Truetrac is supposed to be tougher.

 

I'm really happy with my G80 for the driving I do though.
