I'm pretty set on regearing my truck, I love the lift but I really miss how quick it was. So what gear ratio and brand should I go with, and also what do you think the overall price is going to be on this??

yukon gears. and i had the 4spd transmission in my 2009 with a 5.3 and i went with 4.88 gears and it was orgasmic. over all price depends on the location you're in and the amount of aftermarket shops around. i'd expect to pay anywhere between 1500-2500.

I got the 6sp so I feel like 4.88 might be slightly too low for me! But maybe 4.56 or 4.10, what were your hwy rpms with the 4.88's?? and also that is actually a lot lower price than I was expecting! But like you said it matters on the area.

running 85 mph my rpms were about 2500-2700. what gears do you have currently? do you have a 5.3 or the 6.2?

I have a 6.2 with 3.73 gears, it's quick even with 35's but not quick enough haha!

I'm about 100% highway, living in a town of 700 people doesn't really count as city driving to me! ALLBLKDOUT07, what do you think the price of 4.10's would be on my Denali? I'm just looking for different opinions and you seem to know your stuff!

With 4Wheel parts where I live they charge $650 per axle labor then add the cost of gears

I think I'm gonna buy the gears myself and compare different labor costs, what's your guys' opinion on G2 gears??

I think that is what I'm going to go with, does anyone know how difficult this is to do/what special tools you need? My Dad used to be a mechanic so maybe just maybe he could do it for me

I'd get a pro to do it..

 

I got 4.10's put into my 2010 Z71 (5.3, 6 speed, 6" BDS Lift and 35" Toyo MT's..) (At 4 Wheel Parts for $1200)

 

Along w my other mods I average 12mpg 14mpg on long highway drives and the power difference from the stock 3.08 is very noticeable.

 

At 70mph I'm running a little under 1900rpm in 6th gear.

 

I'd say if you're primarily a hwy driver go 3.73 to save some gas.. I'm sure youll like it. Got a buddy w a similar set up.

 

Or if you want more working or off road truck power and don't mind to sacrifice a couple mpg's go w 4.10's..

 

After gearing and my tune I was very happy.

If it was my truck on those tires, I'd do 4.10s.

 

Gears are a pretty involved project, lots of aligning etc that has to be right, but if your dad's done it before no big deal in doing it again.
