Good-Bye GM

Well I have had my truck for 18 months and it's time to say good-bye.I have been dealing with GM's customer service reguarding the road/wind noise in my truck and they have told me it's a truck so it's normal. My truck has had 28 warranty repairs, not good for a new truck. Time to look at a Ford this weekend.

Sorry to hear that. Hope that no matter vehicle you end up with it will be a good one. Over the years I've had the good, bad, and a few down right ugly vehicles. I've owned them all and I'm glad I've got this truck and won't be trading anytime soon. I'm kind of worried about getting a new truck with all problems I've been reading about lately.

Once you've traded, be sure to stop by and let us know, and have pics available too...lol

I'm doing the same this weekend, but not for repair issues. Mine's been great so far, but I'm REALLY liking the Ecoboost FX4's I've been looking at...

You get TOTM and now you trade? Really?

Just kidding. Please don't take me seriously.

Just wondering, why would anyone take the ecoboost over a 5.0? From the trucks I've seen, the only thing better on an EB is mileage, and that isn't even that great and goes to crap when you tow. The 5.0 seems to be a much simpler (read better) engine.

What kind of wind noise are you having? Is wind noise the only problem your having?

Good luck with the Ecoboost, lol. Our local dealerships repair lot is full of them! Hop on youtube and search ecoboost problems.. Looks like people are only getting about 30-50k outta there ecobust motors.

I'd wait a bit longer as sales will get slower and slower, for what ever truck you buy. I know the frustration, I had a B**TH of a time dealing with my 08 Sierra's breaks. The would either glaze up or be gone every 10k or so. That was with the '20 GMC wheels (not the chrome ones, yuk). So I made sure that this truck had regular old '18 wheel.

All manufactures have issues, nothing is perfect and you can get good and bad it's luck of the draw. I have only every owned GM and have had very few issues, but what helps me is mileage ~ 6k/yr.

I wonder how many people are here because they left Ford, Dodge or even Toyota?

I could provide the links, but believe me, these are the following problems various trucks have-

GM-Six speed transmission unrefined/driveshaft clunks, cabin wind noise due to rear vents.

Ford (Ecoboost)-Many, many transmission problems. (I posted this link previously.) Some motors have major issues.

Tundra - Bed Bounce. I test drove a Tundra since I had a very reliable 4Runner I was going to be trading in on a truck. I really wanted a Tundra, but took it on a freeway with major expansion joints and the bed bounce was unbelievable.

Dodge- Many reported rear end failures.

If your going to buy another truck...Good luck finding one without some issues.

(Traded in 4Runner when I bought the Silverado.

20" wheels, chrome or not, don't cause issues with the brakes. I have had oem 20" wheels on all 3 of my gm trucks starting about 5 years ago and never had any issues.

yea, I don't see how wheel size would affect this, tire size/weight yes.
