OGM1 Bug Log

10 hour trip from Philly to Tennessee and the ogm1 would reboot after about 5hrs. Audio cuts out even though iPod is still playing. This happened on the way to and back from so I know is not a one time thing.

Might be worth pulling the deck out of the dash to make certain the cables are located in a way that allows the fan to evacuate the hot air from inside the deck. Sounds like it may be a heat issue if it happens consistently in that period of time.

I just recently encountered a bug that I can't figure out after updating to the most recent firmware. When I switch to my AUX in the OGM-1 just freezes on the main selection screen. I do not connect it via USB it just uses the standard 3.5mm headphone cable. If I switch the source from AUX to Radio, I then can switch back typically to AUX without issue. Sometimes though, like I said it will hang but will not let me go into the menu of the AUX source where you can adjust the "EQ" and "Audio." Never had this issue prior to upgrading and I'm not sure if I need to reset the NAV or revert to the previous firmware. I do not use an iPod, just a standard MP3 player.

I also have the issue (since I bought it) that occasionally when I start the truck the Nav buttons are not lit at all until I adjust the dimmer switch in the truck when it will then turn on. Now I do have the dimmer switch at the lowest it can go ( I do not like a very bright instrument panel) so I'm guessing thats the issue there. However, the freezing on my AUX source is very annoying indeed.

Couldn't tell you what's going on for the AUX issue, but you may want to document exactly what makes it happen so others can duplicate it. I know that I've never experienced it, but if we can duplicate it using the same method, we can pass it on to the engineers to see if they can fix it.

if you don't like the buttons lit up, try adjusting the button backlighting in the menu (Setup-Next Page) to a lower setting (not "Auto"), and it won't be dependent on the dimmer setting at all.

I've had mine 3 weeks and haven't noticed any major problems. The navigation seems a little slow when booting up and when I'm viewing the nav screen and listening to music on a flash drive it takes some time before the next song starts. When viewing the play list it's quick. One thing I would like to see changed, when I select random it stays that way until I change it. Everytime the unit cuts off you have to select it again. But compared to some other units I've had this is minor.

Thank you for sharing your feedback about the system in your truck, Bowtie55. I can understand your frustrations with this. We will be sure to document your comments about your navigation system in your vehicle. This means that many departments within General Motors will be able read your comments.

Happy Holidays,

For the last couple of weeks, I have had to reset the clock 4 or 5 times. It has been found to be off by several hours on all these instances....the date and year still are correct though....just the time gets screwed up....anyone else see this?

OGM1 wont recognize SD card...navi stopped working. "File path does not exist!" pops up when I try to use navi.

OK, First push "OK" when that screen comes up.

Then hit "Browse"

Locate the file with the EXE after it's name.

Select the file by tapping on it twice

Then it will return to the path screen.

Make sure "Auto run next time" has a check mark in it and then hit "run Navigation"

Did you have the card out for some reason? it generally doesn't just stop seeing the card.

When was the last time you updated it at Naviextras.com?

The GPS is what reports the time to the clock. Make sure you have a good signal, your default time zone is set correctly, and run the toolbox program from Naviextras, if they are having a problem it will fix it. It is also a good idea to make a backup of your map when you are there.

The card was simply popped out for inspection/see what version nav software it had, and popped back in. If you follow the link I have a video posted that shows my issues exactly. I'm unable to choose any folders because there aren't any that show up. Just reads sdmem across the top and has a blank folder with two periods for a name. Cannot select the folder. Advent tech support thinks one of the contacts was damaged or bent when inspecting the sd card. But all that happened was card came out and card was put back in. Contacts up and clicked right in..

I have the OGM1 set for audio and visual warnings for speed limit changes etc. but I only get the visual warnings. Is there supposed to be a warning chime as well?

I would also like to get the door open/key in ignition chimes back. Have you any experience with installing the PAC OS-4 chime emulator kit?

I've been having some issues, especially of late with my OGM-1. I've downloaded and installed the latest firmware 06192012, and it didn't cure ONE of the problems.

First: I'll have periods of days (even a couple weeks) where the unit will start when I start the truck, but it runs through the colors, meaning it will load the Green, Red, then Blue solid screens, holding a few seconds on each screen, before it will then load the splash screen and begin to operate.

Second, There was also a time when it would freeze on the "Calibrate Screen" page, and the screen would be nearly unresponsive. Trying to move the cursor past the lower left corner would return it to the center of the screen and restart. That behavior SEEMS to have ceased when I updated the firmware though.

Last, and most recent (the last couple weeks), I've had SERIOUS issues with the operation of the radios/screen. Today seems to have topped it all off; but for the last few weeks, every couple of days the presets would go nuts- if I was in XM or FM, the preset would randomly jump back to the #1 preset without any intervention on my part. It would do that for the entire drive to work (~35 minutes), then when I came back out to the truck to go home, it would behave properly. It would also (in XM at least) jump from say, preset 3 (in my case, Hair Nation-39) to preset 4 (Classic Rewind-24) for a bit, then jump back to preset 1 (Octane-37). Pushing the channel up on the SW control would move to the next preset, but then the unit decided to start re-setting the presets (so preset 2 would lock into the same channel as preset 4 or preset 1- it varied). Also, if I pressed a source in the menu screen, it would ALWAYS open the Navigation app, regardless of the source I did choose. Resetting the unit seemed to settle the random jumping down, but it never cured it fully. Today however, the random jump-around was occurring, and when I reset the system, it booted back up with ZERO response on the screen, all presets wiped out and reset to XM-1 or 87.5 (FM), and I can't move past the first audio screen. Only hard buttons are working- pressing and holding for 30 seconds at a clip are not helping the system figure out what I want to do. As I said, all presets are long gone, all audio tailoring is gone (and I can't get into the equalizer), the Bluetooth was reporting disconnected, and the touchscreen is now a display only.

Any suggestions as to what has gone wrong here? I'm about to go re-install the latest firmware (which is six months old, BTW) to see if that restores the unit to working order.

Thank You! This corrected it! I had just updated the Nav, and set the time, but not checked the time zone. It all appears to be keeping the right time now.

I tried updating with that navi extras tool box it doesnt work. The program just says "not responding" then I have to close it. Very frustrating. I sent them an email. Yes I tried reinstalling it and my computer is not a slouch.

Edit: it works now. Weird.

    • Hi,   I work a steep boat landing that has patchy blacktop going down the hill and soft sand/gravel at the bottom. Due to low water levels, it's not always possible reach the blacktop. I've had to help several people get out this year already and with fall coming, I'm anticipating more. I always use 4L. There was a gentleman there today with a 2500 HD (actually 2 - him and his son both have them) and they were trying to get his son's wake boat out. This gentleman swears that you should use 4H in the soft gravel. Says he was a farmer and you always use higher gear when stuck. I was wonder what your thoughts on this are? If I'm wrong, it would be good to find out before things get busy.
    • Looking for feedback from users of roll up aluminum slat bed covers who have had it for more than 3 years. I prefer the aluminum slat style over supported vinyl covers due to security and the capacity to support a light load. The slight loss of bed opening when rolled up is not an issue. Presently have BAK Revolver the "industrial grade vinyl overlay" on mine is shrinking & coming loose at the rear and on both sides in addition to cracking at some of the folding joints. Truck lives outdoors in NC latitude. Can't justify the steep price to replace it with another one if that's the expected lifespan. Do you have a better alternative?
    • Thanks, your last sentence is the root of my problem, outdoors truck and southern latitude = UV overload. Looking at replacing with Rough Country powder coated aluminum slat roll up model.
    • I’m looking at putting a lift in my 2024 gmc sierra 1500 elevation trim, has anyone had any luck with fitting a bigger tire under the rear for a spare?? Was gonna go with a 4 inch zone lift Also what wheel and tire size setup are you all running? Wondering if I can get away with keeping around the stock size a 33 inch, and just get some new wheels to have enough back spacing then I can just keep my original spare tire I have under the truck now.
