Installed my OGM1 a few weeks ago. Ive noticed the buttons have a steady flash when first starting up the truck for a good 2-3 min then glow constantly. Is this normal?

Mine does this sometimes. A quick adjustment of the dimmer stops it. I never cared enough to look deeper into it.

This is exactly the issue - if the dimmer is set "just" right you will get this issue - in other words, if the dimmer is set right on the threshold where the unit thinks the dash lights could be on or off, the backlights will flicker. The solution is to just move the dimmer up or down a tad...

After using the Advent OGM1 for a few months now I have noticed the following:

1. If you are using Android 4.1.1 or newer the Parrot Bluetooth built into the Advent OGM1 is totally useless and does not work. There is no fix (believe me I have tried) this is a real disappointment as the Bluetooth is something I use everyday so for now it is back to using my 4 year old BT headset in my 2011 Tahoe.

2. The blinker noise that is made while they are on stops working about 1 in five starts. Blinkers still work just no sound. Turn off and restart vehicle and they start working again.

3. Steering wheel controls are super delayed at times for radio and iPod. Easier to just use the touch screen controls on the OGM1.

The IGO Nav is great and so is the increased stereo performance.

Does your Tahoe not have the OEM Bluetooth? Mine does and it still works.

- Has anyone experienced a loud screetch or amp type pop noise on startup/bootup? We experience this on 1 in every few startups. Very annoying and embarrassing! (Duramax Diesel vehicle if it matters)

- XM data loads but NO audio on some bootups, we reboot to fix (usually just switch button color from blue to orange or back to initiate reboot)

- RED OnStar light - indicating an issue with OnStar communication. Occurs occasionally since OGM1 install (sometimes lit green as normal, sometimes red)

Also can't seem to remove the "drive carefully" accept screen. Managed to alter the map menu to boot right into the map after accept, but want to remove the acceptance step.

PS for those with alternator whine - mine was doing this only on aux in, but stopped when disabled "loudness" in the audio settings.

Hopefully soon we can look into and find a way to rewire this thing so it maintains power in a "standby" type mode when vehicle is off (like when vehicle is running but unit is powered off) or to enable power to the unit for initial spool up and retain it after shutdown for period of time the way the OEM factory does with door unlock / door opening (not referring to RAP - which btw used to cutoff only with driver door open and now does it with any door, grrr)

PM me or send me an email - I have a firmware update that "may" fix the bootup thump or pop.

The other stuff is pretty well-known and I can help on all of it...

Thanks Walt! You are the Best! PM you shortly.

I DID just fix the skip acceptance issue, re-read the sysconfig tweaks thread - easier thank you think, I'll just repost here for those looking:

The file to edit for this feature is in your SD card - Data.zip > config > devices > Audiovox_USA_OE.ini

In the [interface] section EDIT the following lines "drive_carefully=1" to "drive_carefully=0"

(I had kept trying in the sys file and couldn't find it)

Thanks to those who input their knowledge on this thread and this one: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/142508-sysconfig-tweaks/page-6

BTW, does anyone else have or notice that when dimming the dash lights the bottom right hard key (xm key) stays lit at full brightness?

For some reason the PM here won't allow me to respond to you - can you shoot me an email from our website and I'll send you the firmware?

@Loudcloud: Was it Parrot that told you it had to do with 4.1.1? Or Advent? I am running a HTC One X+ with 4.1.1 on it and it seems to work as expected. About once a week the two will not connect and I have to turn the BT on and off on the OGM1 to get them talking again but my previous SGS2 did that as well (both Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich). What kind of phone do you have?

I own a ogm1 and a Kenwood 9990hd and both don't connect to my phone every once in a while. I got a friend with a different phone and has a Kenwood same problem.

Turn Signal indicator quirks:

1 - when the turn signals and hazards are both activated, there is no audible "blinker" indication

2 - when the mute function is on and the vehicle is shut off, upon next restart there will be no turn signal indicator sound until the mute is released. Sound will however continue to function with mute re-enabled.

I have a OGM1 aftermarket Radio DVD CD NAV unit that Is having this one issue.

Everything works fine except when trying to start Navigation. Navigation loading status bar gets 3/4 progress loaded then entire unit reboots and loses current time.

I have tried to copy everything onto another SD card and same problem happens.

I am running latest firmware but may try flashing firmware again to see if that will possibly fix.

Firmware Update

http://static.voxxin...downloads/OGM1/

I did a firmware update accompanied by a system reset. Also updated free map update with naviextras toolbox.

Still freezes on nav loading and reboots.
