My 2012 has just about 6k on the clock and when i pop the hood this part just glares at me.

My dealer told me this is normal and I should not worry about it. I persoanlly think it is B.S. and should be fixed under the corrosion warranty. Please look under your hood and post up pictures. I just don't feel a properly galvanized steel part would rust this fast.

Dang, that's is not pretty at all! That part wasn't galvanized at all by the look see. I second the B.S. flag on that. I'm pretty sure my beat up '06 doesn't have that kind of rust on any under hood brackets. Undercarriage is another story though...I'd check in with another dealer (not to mention looking at some fellow local 2012 owner's vehicles for comparison).

i know on the trailblazers, the support bar that goes over the battery did rust, but not this fast. I know the battery will be hard the metal parts but seriously. My main worry is it defeating the barriers on my cowl and fender causeing them to rust prematurily.

you can see the rust on the paints surface on the cowl already.

have you brought it up to the dealer or just left it be?

Ive just let it be for now, i dont like anyone working on my vehicles but me. To fix that they would at least have to remove the hood or fender and there is no way someone is taking body panels off my truck other than me.

For a temporary solution i bought some exact match paint that comes in the little bottle and has a brush and pen. I got most of it painted without any disassembly and its hardly noticeable now.

Painting over the rust won't get rid of rust :nonod:

Never said anything about the paint getting rid of the rust, hence why i said TEMPORARY solution until i have time to dissemble, clean and paint myself.

Guessing its caused by 2 dissimialr metals touching
