He has one of those rare 02 quadrsteers too.  There actually was a few out that were like very last 2002s made.  Kinda weird, but they are out there, I have seen a couple.

No offense...IT HAPPENS!  I've seen it happen personally.  Had I been under there a minute or two longer, I wouldn't be here posting.

 

It has nothing to do with a GM Technician so don't blame him unless it's proven he improperly lifted it.

 

In our case it was brand new 93 Suburban 4x4.  I forget what it was in for, but like in this guys' case, the truck was less than a week old.  It was lifted properly and lifted within normal range of lift.  Simple metal fatigue in the front arm on the driver's side of the truck and all we heard was CRASH and glass shattering and a Suburban lieing on it's side.  To boot, this lift was less than a year old and WAS properly maintained per OSHA standards.  Simple unanticipated metal fatigue.  NOT THE TECHNICIANS FAULT!

Oh it was replaced, no doubt about that.  The dealer bought him a new one through insurance and then the insurance company went after the lift maker.

 

Since we now owned a "slightly abused" Suburban, I think the dealer took the tax write-off and donated it to a local school for auto class.

I'd hope for a new ride as well.  Definitely not a great way to start a service relationship, accidental or mechanical failure.

We haven't droped one of the lift yet   but a guy did put a suburban through the roof back at the old shop.

Years ago when I was working in a Buick GMC shop a 65 Riveria jumped into gear and took off across the shop it hit 2 new Buicks, and 1 new GMC truck before it hit 2 other cars and pushed them into 2 tool boxes, the dealers insurance covered everything but the techs tool boxes, because his lawer said we were contract labor they were not responsible for the tool boxes.  One of the two was a two week old Snap On box the tech had been saving up to buy for over a year.

When I worked at Acura, the Hummer dealer next door dropped a brand new H2 off the lift during PDI/accessory install.

 

And the Quarasteer was a 2002 1/2 option.  Kinda like how the fourth door showed up in 2000 1/2 I believe.  Or how navigation will show up on the 2003 1/2 Denalis and Escalades.

I hope that guy gets a new truck because that truck will never be the same after dropping it that far .

I work on and off at a big GM dealership in Texas, and while working there over the summer of '02 I witnessed a brand new 2500HD fall off a lift on to the towing hitch. As far as I know they never told the customer, but it might have been a new/used car noone bought yet. My position is "service drive attendent" or better known as a porter. Also about two years ago before I worked there, someone apparently dropped a 60's corvette off a lift. It did some damage but not real serious, so i have heard.
